I think the blue tint gives it a sort of "metallic" feel... I love it!
I'm quite attracted to these kinds of wallpapers... I dunno, I have a thing for "alt-dimension" looking things.
The "sreen data" type details are a nice touch to it.

Excellent work here.... I don't care what the others say, the 2D is good... Good work on the render iteslf, too. Competition on this type of work is pretty tight lately, due to it being extremely easy to produce fairly nice-looking renders with Bryce. Obviously you put a lot of work into this one, tho.

The render is very good when it comes to the background areas but I am not a big fan of the center part. It seems a little thrown together and such. Also, regarding the 2D... I don't really like it that much. (To be fair I don't like much 2D). Anyway, I think that the light beam or whatever is over-used by artists now and that the one you made is little too obtrusive. The other 2D is okay, it's nothing special though. Sorry to be such a drag but you asked for the good and the bad, everyone else already gave you the good so I bring you the bad.
