alright so i finished this two hours late for being considered done over the weekend but //smoke bomb

art trade with DigiC300 !

there are definitely parts of this where idek what i was doing, but i also kinda like how it turned out. had fun colouring him, since he didn't have a set scheme decided on yet. :') also using Gale here to jump start a new project: i decided to get back to basics. asked myself a couple questions. what is it i really seem to work with, and work with well? what can i get back to without inducing anxiety on myself?

well, i'll still be messing around with rat pack, and of course i still want/need to get better at backgrounds and colouring (and shading, by extension), but freaking out about everything isn't doing anyone any good. SO, this train of thought eventually led to the idea of simple character illustrations. plain or abstract backgrounds. animal character designs. focus on shapes and figure. i just want to design a ton of characters.

Gale here is obviously not my original design, but i still had a lot of fun interpreting Digi's sketch, so that's why i'm counting him as the kick start for this project. <'') already have a few characters in mind who have yet to be officially designed, but i'd still love suggestions for any animals or jobs. might make a journal asking for ideas.

markers also came in, so i'll be having fun with those alongside my watercolour, ink, pens, and gouache~ >:0

but ahh went on a bit of a tangent—thanks so much for tradin' with me Digi! drawing Gale was an absolute pleasure even if that cake wore me out goddds
