What you're using is called the Loomis Method, and there's some very in-depth representations of it at proko.com if you're interested. You're following it quite closely, with some little modifications toward a more cartoony style.
Just thought I'd mention that, since you seemed unsure that you knew what you were talking about
It's actually a very good tutorial, and you follow the "rules" very closely just off intuition. I envy your ability to do that with such ease.

Seems what your saying is is practice practice practice LOL ... you appear to draw from right side of your brain which is a more mathmatical side unfortunatly "explaining art" comes from the left side which may not be your strong side....
