I'll break it down for you, because obviously you have a hard time understanding the concept:
1) Climate is not the same as weather. You can have an unseasonably cold spring, or it may snow in June once, but that isn't a reflection on the accuracy of climate science. Climate change impacts CLIMATE, which is weather patterns over a long period of time.
2) The reason we stopped calling it "global warming" was because there was confusion in the general public as to what that would mean. Global warming refers to the fact that global temperatures, overall, are increasing. Someone uneducated in the physical sciences would interpret this as everywhere on the planet getting hotter, sunnier, and drier. This is not what happens, because, believe it or not, the Earth is a big and complex thing. The polar and temperate zones are experiencing a much more dramatic change in climate than tropical regions; polar and temperate winters are shorter and warmer than they were hundreds of years ago. In the tropics, the effect is more one of moisture, as the direct heat of the sun in this zone generates Hadley cells, which uplift water vapor, making tropical clouds and storms.
You see, the effects of rising global temperatures are different depending on where you are. For example, I live in the Pacific Northwest. We've been experiencing extended periods of rainy weather into spring over the last several decades. Up until recently, winters were colder, with less moisture, and the rain stopped earlier in the spring. Rising temperatures in the Pacific generate more clouds, which dump more rain on the land as the spring progresses. Because of this, our springs are getting colder and wetter (due to increased cloud cover and rain storms), and our winters are getting warmer (from warmer offshore temperatures).
Climate scientists didn't change the name to "climate change" because they were trying to cover their ass. They changed it because the general public, such as yourself, was too stupid to understand the realistic implications of rising global temperatures.

ROTFLMAO!!! I've heard all this crap numerous times before! The EARTH has experienced at least 5 major ICE AGES in it's past,followed by periods of GLOBAL WARMING. This occurred long before Mankind had developed Technology that could in any way effect the Earth's climate.What then caused the ICE AGES and GLOBAL WARMING in the past?
IF the Earth is entering a period of Warming(some Scientist's believe we are actually in a COOLING Period),nothing we can do will stop it. This whole "Global Warming/Climate Change" ruse is a load of CRAP!!!

The difference between former climatic changes and current changes is the RATE at which they are occurring. The warming periods and ice ages you're thinking of took place over many, many millenia.
Recent anthropogenic climate change is going far faster than any other climatic shift in the history of our planet. This has a distinct and firmly established (as much as you don't want to believe it) cause; greenhouse gas emissions from human industry/transportation/etc.
A big difference between pre-industrial climatic changes, even the relatively quick ones, is that usually there was a cause that was finite and brief; a series of powerful volcanic eruptions, run-away oceanic methane release, etc. Our current situation is one in which humans are causing persistent and accelerating warming, with no sign of stopping or even slowing down.
According to climatic trends over the last 12,000 years or so, we were SUPPOSED to be in a cooling trend right about now. Instead, we are in a sharp warming trend coming out of an already warm period that was part of the natural, pre-industrial cycle...showing perhaps most clearly humankind's impact on the global climate.
Will we be able to stop it? No. What we can do is lessen the effect, maybe. Either way, in the end, many hundreds of millions will die needlessly, hundreds of thousands of species will become extinct, and human civilization will likely become impossible to maintain. Eventually, without human industry, the warming will stop accelerating, things will balance out, and the 6th mass extinction will be over (probably with humans as one of the victims).
This has nothing to do with liberalism or communism or any "isms." This is science.

As someone who works with scientists who study the geological record.... its amazing how things that are scientific fact are argued the most by people who have no scientific backgrounds.

They don't care that the evidence in favor of anthropogenic climate change is overwhelming. Just like with evolution, if it challenges their uninformed reality, then they battle against it rather than do the mental heavy lifting.
The fact that these people are arrogant enough to think they actually KNOW something about the science, or about how science works in general, with little to no actual education, floors me.
To them, my honors thesis on the evolutionary genetics of climate change on a North American mosquito species, backed by more than a century of evolutionary biology and decades of climate change science is on the same page as some crackpot with a highschool education and a conspiracy theory.
