More likely, a Dark Young, fissioned off the main mass -which is even worse looking. Hinted at in The Golden Bough,unless my memory is fzzed.

The term "Thousand young" should not be taken literally. The number is huge, and "thousand" here means "numerous". They are spawned asexually, but even less to be approached are those spawned sexually.
