this looks really great maki.. the head is pretty spot on to his cartoon look.
i think the only thing bad about the using the cartoon for reference is that a lot of the cartoon screen caps out there are really badly drawn. so i can already see that the chest looks a little flat, when it's actually supposed to stick out a bit. there are three planes to his chest like a half of a hexagon.. if you know what i mean? other than that, i have to agree with bee in that it's got a very marvel comic-ish feel to it.
