Wouldn't it be easier to use the Magic Wand Tool, select by color and create a selected area, then erase? When you have an area selected, it automatically avoids any risk of erasing the subject are, and tend to go a lot faster, especially on those annoying edges of the part if the image you're trying to keep?

I tend to do things manual instead of magic wand...I work on high zoom alot so I prefer to go inch by inch when I delete a background. But magic wand is good for some! Thank you for reading it!! I am glad it helped someone!

I agree that the "magic wand" is not always so magical... I probably depend on it too much, which is why your tutorial and several others were so helpful, to identify additional (and fast) ways to select and isolate elements of images that might otherwise have been much more time-intensive to accomplish!
