um, I wanted a friend to write a story using 2 characters and a malevolent force.  I left it quite vauge to see what see came up with, it gave me this idea at the same time and I made it to help her writting. 

There is some inspiration from shadow puppet theatre I came across years ago and an indie steampunk style animation which is done in silouhette form
