Description
Lepidotes piauhyensis in 1:2 scale.Until I was commissioned for a brazilian Lepidotes, I honestly didn't knew this genus was present here in Brazil. Then, researching, I knew not only it was present, but very abundant! There are record of a series of Lepidotes species from several States, and from both Jurassic and Cretaceous.
Here I depicted L. piauhyensis, one of the species known from better specimens and, consequently, one of the better described.

Update 01/09/2018: One less Lepidotes species: L. piauhyensis has recently been recognized as a new genus, Quasimodichthys piauhyensis ("Quasimodo fish", after its hunchback).

Neat reconstruction! When I saw the thumbnail I thought 'Lepidotes' but Quasimodichthys is a very appropriate name for this one!
