"For you your religion, and for me my religion. "The Holy Quran, Chapter 109 Verse 7
Contrary to many opinions, Islam promotes religious tolerance, peace and acceptance of others, as portrayed through this verse from the Quran.

I believe there is another verse that states that essentially not to attempt to convert others since faith cannot be forced it must be embraced willingly. And that a true muslim simplyΒ preserves the Truth(since they believe the koran is truth) until such a time that the world willingly embraces it. Glad you made this, there are far to many misconceptions bred by ignorance when it comes to islam in recent years.

I've got something else less tolerant in the Quran, it's at "The cave" (18:29 "Say: (It is) the truth from the Lord of you (all). Then whosoever will, let him believe, and whosoever will, let him disbelieve. Lo! We have prepared for disbelievers Fire. Its tent encloseth them. If they ask for showers, they will be showered with water like to molten lead which burneth the faces. Calamitous the drink and ill the resting-place!"
Therefore the Quran says who choose the wrong religion is going to suffer in hell for eternity. Nice!
This is so hypocritical : "I'm not going to slain you, but my God will do it in the afterlife... giving you the worst tortures not even possible on earth. I won't be the one who will slaughter you, but I worship Allah, and Allah wants you tortured for eternity... what a nice guy, isn't he?!"

There are three aspects of religion. The pseudo historical which has its uses but generally needs to be taken with a large grain of salt, the spiritul which is what this piece is quoting designed to inspire and teach humility to the reader, then there is the political. The politicising of religion is the part which you and others attack, as well you should, however this is a corruption of the religion not the religion itself. When the westboro baptist church says "God hates fags" they are politicising the bible, they ignore nearly every teaching Jesus made. "let he who has not sinned cast the first stone" is a very reasonble thing, it reminds us that we all make mistakes and we should be understanding of others, ie humble. Yet they ignore this, what you are stating, whether true or not(I didn't reasearch it so I can't say either way) is a politicising of religion. This is why there are religious scholars because there is so much in these texts that are subjective, political, or only pertain to so very specific event or point in time, and of course there are issues with translations and misrepresentations(the story of Lot and soddom and gomorah are actually stories of xenophobia not homesexuality).

Sorry, I didn't want to make this smiley (), it's because of the punctuation I used.

I am a Christian and fully agree with this sentence. We all should just leave each other alone religiously even though that will probably be difficult as religious isolation isn't the answer either.

Tolerance is dangerous though, if you know something is wrong or impugning the the rights of some in a culture and you tolerate it, you are just as bad as the scum who take the rights and freedoms of others away. A common issue affecting women in islamic cultures.

Some time I'll have to get around to actually reading the Quran, but then again I'm a Christian who's never read the entire bible, but oh well.
What I'm trying to say is this a fantastic poster you came up with, it's a shame so many people are too shortsighted to tell friend from foe or to see where the true cause of conflict lies.

One of the best verses of the Quran, if only more people could read it, and more importantly, understand and act upon it

No offence, but i will have to ask this.
If islam promotes tolerance, then why are many people here in europe (who are islamic ofcourse) going on the streets chanting death to the people who took them in, just because of a few cartoons? Or is the islam in the mid east constantly hunting down other religions, for instance this: [link]
I'm not trying to make you look bad or something, or showing hate to your religion, but i'm just asking what your statement on this matter is, as in a lot of muslims in my neigborhood are constantly harrasing christians here (ironically we can't do anything about it because it would somehow be racism if we did...)

Just because you say you are something, doesn't mean you are it. I would say they make actual muslims look bad.

Because very few of them actually read the Quran. Just like few christians actually read the bible, only remembering a few select verses.

It's annoying that a couple of extremists set people off about a religion and then stereotypes are thrown but I guess that's with everything. D: This is beautiful.
