Two things about this drawing: it's entirely made on Paint, and I suck at anatomy.
So now... BORING INTRODUCTION TIME! 8D

Gem: Dioptase, located on the back of her neck
Sex: No determined sex, she/her
Weapon: Mace

Unique abilities: Telekinesis. She can move around many things at the same time and even make them levitate, including herself. However, she can't pick up items with a mass that exceed one ton.

Personality: Dioptase is kind and motherly, and tries her best to never get angry. Fascinated with what humans call “beauty”, she loves to learn more about artists and secretly wishes to be one herself. She is calm and collected, and corrects her flaws as much as she can. She has a huge lack of self-esteem and that’s pretty easy to notice: when faced with a dangerous threat, she is usually the first one to let go of her calm composure. However, threaten her friends, and the hidden mama bear will come out in all her glory, smashing stuff with her mace… and with everything she could pick up with her telekinesis.

Story: Thousands of years ago, Dioptase was sent on Earth in order to provide support for the Gems fighting against the Rebellion. Her telekinetic abilities allowed her to promptly evacuate any cracked Gem without being at the center of the battle. This was during this time she met Reinerite and Corundum. The first was an experimental bio-weapon, the second was a strong warrior with little interest in civil wars. The Rebellion indeed had an army, smaller than Homeworld’s, but it still was an army nonetheless. Corundum believed that Homeworld’s relentlessness on fighting the rebels could lead to no good, and she convinced Reinerite and Dioptase to think the same. Together, they decided to put an end to the war by talking with the Great Diamond Authority and abandon Earth, and the Crystal Gems with it.
However, their plan was heard and the Homeworld matriarchs believed it was another attempt at a revolt against them. Dioptase, Reinerite and Corundum were labelled as traitors and were sentenced to be broken; they escaped, chased by the army. Sadly, it costed them a price: Corundum had to fight off five Gem warriors by herself while her two friends were looking for a way out; she managed to bury her opponents under a rock slide, but her gemstone had been badly cracked by the blows she received. She disappeared inside in order to regenerate but she knew she couldn’t recover without her gem fully healed. Dioptase and Reinerite found her gem on the ground, and mourned the disappearance of their friend. They sealed her inside a bubble and travelled the Earth, in order to find a way to heal her.

During their journey, while looking for a place to stay, Dioptase ended up discovering the Lascaux Caves and its numerous paintings. At first, she was quite dumbfounded because she had no idea what it was made for, but she thought more and more about it, until she came to a satisfying conclusion: it had no purpose whatsoever; it was done for the sake of making something purely aesthetic, something to be looked at without understanding it. She never stopped thinking about these paintings. During the long years she spent on Earth, she saw more and more paintings, sculptures, even music and more that had no practical purposes but simply to be looked at, to be enjoyed for what they were: something humans called “art”. She didn’t understand it very well but found herself charmed by the idea. The more time Dioptase spent on Earth, the less she was willing to leave: she had found a new purpose, to make “art” herself, and maybe share it with fellow Gems. She wondered if it could be used to calm down the Diamond Authority.
This second wish quickly came to be, because as Reinerite and Dioptase were looking for paintings in caves (“You never know”), they were surprised by a small Gem, and attacked her. However, when another Gem, very tall, came, the two fugitives decided it would be better to simply talk with them. Turned out those two Gems, Pyrite and Cupric Sulfate, weren’t Homeworld Gems at all, and even if the first contact was a bit brutal, the talking quickly came to be entertaining. They became a team, settled in France, a country apparently free from Gem interference, but didn’t lose track of their primary goal: find a way to heal Corundum.

After a few years, a little Gem ship crashed on the land and Cupric Sulfate was the first one to find it. Inside was Pyrope, a Gem who was fleeing from Homeworld because of her divergent views about Earth. Dioptase quickly befriended her and soon their little team welcomed a new member. But recently, new signs of Gem activity were witnessed, besides the usual Gem monsters and malfunctioning artifacts… The sea disappearing and returning with the violence of a tsunami, a giant green hand in the sky that crashed beyond the ocean… It seems Homeworld still hasn’t given up on Earth after all.
