Description
The next in the tutorial series.I see a lot of folks zooming in too early to work on each individual part for their shading, going all the way from light to dark with every little bit. The end result is that area looks nice, but as a whole the piece feels separate from itself. The purpose of this tutorial is to show how to set things up so everything is considered at once, instead of part to part.
As an additional exercise I encourage you to seek out art that you like and find those light, dark, and medium value areas. It can be surprising where the values go in an interesting piece.
As always all my tutorials are made possible from patron contributions. If you're interested and/or would like to see the next ones early, consider patroning: www.patreon.com/viw

I've never even considered how the clumping of values in certain areas would effect the composition of the piece. Thanks for this, it's super helpful!

Now that is good to keep in mind. I'm more than guilty of adding too much detail too early and just everywhere. It's pretty hard to keep yourself loose like this.
