fantastic!
winter sweeps in, makes me shiver with the cold touch of her fingers, and then covers me in a soft white blanket, and i go to sleep forever. or at least until spring comes and wakes me.

It's vaguely eerie that this reminds me of one of my characters... A LOT. The extremely long, dark hair, the white dress, the tie to winter... I loooove it. You really turned these photos into a painting. The wispy, windy parts are especially impressive. Very beautiful.

Yep! My first thought was The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis, as well.
We're looking forward to the movie this December. From the previews, it looks extremely well done. Also, from the title, it looks like they might be planning to do the series!

An amazing concept; makes me think of "The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe" - though perhaps that was one of your ideas ... ? The pose is simply fantastic for the piece, every line of her body very regal and commanding, and at the same time a bit winsome and ethereal. The brushwork is excellent; I like that she has smoke/steam/fog/cold wafting off of her.
My only two qualms are this: probably because I immediately thought C.S. Lewis, I immediately imagined her as having a very "cold" and cruel facial expression, which she has not got. Now, that may not have been what you were going for at all, so it's probably not a very big deal, to be honest.
It would also be nice to see a little bit of frost creeping out (going right) away from her feet, onto the grass. The transition seems very abrupt, somehow. Then again, this qualm also comes with a disclaimer: if you wanted winter trailing from her robes, you did a fantastic job
So all in all, I love it. Amazing sense of composition, and gorgeous brushwork. Keep it up!

Thank you! What a great comment. I honestly did not think of that C.S. Lewis work. I merely looked at the pose and tried to think of what it could be (other than generic maiden/fairy/angel walking through the castle/forest/clouds.) So I got the idea for Winter moving across the land, covering the world in her gown of white snow.
I totally agree that there should be some frost or something around her feet. I also think I should have desaturated the trees just behind her. Sadly, I have already flattened the image so there's not much I can do on it now.

I always save my original image in all of it's layers. Then I "Save a copy as" to get the image I upload to DA. That way, if I decide to return to it later and make a change or to, I can. Learned to do that the hard way!

You're welcome ^^
The frost around the feet would, on second thought, also go nicely with the brushwork around the front of the figure. *nods*
Although I don't think you should worry about desaturating the trees - without contrast, the picture wouldn't be as good. Perhaps more of a reddish tint ... ?
Is there any way to save in photoshop, so that you keep all the layers? I don't have photoshop yet, so I don't know these things. Still, I don't think you should bemoan the flattening of the image - it's really lovely. Great work!

Thanks, sis! Finding the right backgrounds was the hardest part. I even asked Tim if he could make me some renders in Rhino but they didn't look so good. Too "fake."
