They are taken from the fairy tales of Grimm, Charles Perrault Brothers, Hans Christian Andersen, Carlo CollodiΒ

I am using this image as part of a multi-media public talk called "Lost in Space", that mixes astronomical images and music. I know a library picture may seem odd here, but I compare the amount of information conatined in various natural objects with information in books. Its not online anywhere yet. If there is a version with even higher resolution, let me know, because sometimes I project it very large! (Andy Lawrence, astronomer in Edinburgh)
