Description An average conscript soldier of the United Empire in 1923.

The Empire practices nation-wide 24-month conscript on all citizens regardless of species, ethnic groups, genders, religions and social standings. Except for some rare cases, all people have to join the military in one way or another. The Imperial Land Army, in particular, takes the most number of conscripts because infantries need considerably less training than other branches, which often require extensive academic education to the point they'd only take conscripts of certain educational levels. To be qualified, one must finish at least Grade 9/12 of the Imperial schooling system, must be a free citizen (not in jail at the time being called), uses no drugs like opium and heroin, and in overall must be in good shape. Evading conscript can lead to 6 years in jail.

A conscript is typically given these equipments and personal belongings:

  • Equipments:
    • 1 Gia Định K98M3 automatic battle rifle using 8x50mmR cartrigde, 4 magazines of 30 rounds each.
    • 1 Gia Định K98 bayonet.
    • 2 Stalinium bulletproof body armors.
      • 1 standard armor with vertical strips used for daily trainings in base and parades. The strips are for traditional purpose.
      • 1 camo version to use in training fields and in actual combats.
    • 1 Stalinium helmet.
    • 4 stick grenades. Imperium grenades have a special fuse that make them safe even if the bottom is removed.
    • 1 gas mask.
    • 1 combat shovel.
  • Personal belongings:
    • 2 pairs of military epaulettes and badges.
    • 3 military emblems to place on their helmet and hats. In field training and actual combat, this, along with paudrons and badges, will be removed.
    • 2 pairs of shoes.
    • 4 sets of uniform, 2 of the standard green and 2 camo suits.
    • 1 formal hat.
    • 1 field hat used for field trainings.
    • 1 waterproof double-breasted trench coat with retractable hood.
    • 2 sets of underwear.
    • 2 pairs of socks.
    • 1 military backpack.
    • Bow and chopsticks.
    • 2 towels.
    • 1 notebook for military and political lessons.
    • 1 water canteen.
    • 1 scarf (received when leaving the local military command).
    • 2 pairs of sandals.

Soldiers are required to take full responsibility of their equipments and belongings. If anything is lost, soldiers must buy back with their own pocket money. However, if either gun, magazine, bayonet or grenade is lost, the one who lost them may face court martial for losing military equipments. Soldiers are NOT allowed to throw away empty magazines after field trainings and must reload them by hand. After finishing their conscription, soldiers can bring back all personal belongings. Military equipments, however, must be returned in full quantity.

----------------------------

The United Empire's K98 rifle has a long service history. Started as a licensed version of Empire of Alfer's Gewehr 96 bolt action rifle, it was made in large quantities and served as the Empire's main infantry weapon during the Great Gaian War while they were developing lighter, more maneuverable machine guns. The K98M3 is the 3rd upgrade of the original K98, featuring a blowback mechanism in the place of the old bolt, operated by the cartridge's own force to push the spring back and eject the empty bullet case to the right. Older versions ejected it right upward, which caused some accidents regarding hot cases hit the user's face, or worse, eyes, and left nasty scars. For better protection against environment, the K98M3 has a bolt cover to protect it against water, dust, mud and other "unfriendly" things.

The K98M3 has a magazine of 30 rounds, 3 times the original gun and 10 rounds more than the M2. It can be reloaded either by removing the bolt cover and inject bullets via ammo clips like the original version, or remove the whole mag and put a new one in. With 2 different options, the M3 is considered superior to older versions. It can also mount a scope thanks to rails on the left side of the bolt cover, which, along with the ability to switch between semi-auto and full auto modes, turns it into a makeshift sniping rifle. For said role, it has a removable tripod that snipers carry along, and a smaller magazine of only 20 rounds so that the longer 30-round mag won't get in the way of firing. In case of need, there's a special 100-round rectangular mag that can be loaded directly to the gun, turning it into a light machine gun. The M3 is just that versatile.

K98M3 can be considered the "carbine" version of the original K98 with an overall length (not counting its foldable stock) only 70 cm. It uses the same 8x50mmR Patrone 85 with other Imperial guns, which makes it easier to supply bullets. However, due to this length, it is not an optimal sniping rifle. Soldiers and officers don't really care about that, the scope allows them to reliably hit targets up to 700 meters, which is very favorable. If they need more, they'll call for dedicated snipers.

Note: Its recoil is listed as "ridiculous" so unless you're properly trained, DO NOT use the full auto mode.
