It's actually pretty logical. _If_ she's had feeling for Discord from the past, that would be a damn good reason she would want to avoid confronting him herself (season 2), to keep Discord from manipulating said feelings. Kinda would explain why she was so pissed too.
And really, Discord is one of Celestia's only choices (that the audience knows of) if* she _wants_ to love someone who won't be gone before she knows it. She's seen Ponies grow old and die for hundreds if not thousands of years, so she knows were she to take a mate and have foals, she would be doomed to have them turn to dust in a painfully short time. That's not necessarily the case with an immortal Chaos spirit.
