Your Stryx has successfully laid a clutch of eggs, but none of them hatch.
Fayra most definitely learned everything she knows about Stryx from Rig, she's a sort of "apprentice" to him as well as his second-in-command on the ranch. I don't imagine she'd be able to tell by looking at the egg that it was unfertilized, but they've probably not hatched at all and they could guess that that's what happened.
The nesting places they make for their Stryx are a combo of a tent and a thatch-roof hut

If the parents were comfortable with it, Fayra could candle the eggs after a few days of incubation to check for growth!

aww poor beep XD I wonder if she'd have spoken to anyone who raises birds/falconers for experience beforehand? I know stryx are dragony, but it'd help!
