Description The Firewind Secret Santa art trade for The name I drew was

Lineart and black/white done by me, help with colors by ~pyonchitchi !

Featured here is Asmodeus, trapped in Narkatha, the hell of eternal night, after his fall. He has been gifted another demonic artifact to replace the Malfecium, one which he is grasping tightly and grants him the power of transformation needed to survive the blood ritual--in which his essence slowly drips into the bones of his true draconic form--that is slowly changing him into something more fitting to Darogath's designs.

Hopefully this darker twist isn't too unwelcome, as I didn't have a lot of inspiration for a light-hearted, trick-or-treat type of picture. If so, my apologies ADP.

Now that I know more of what Narkathans look like the idea of Az being transformed into some Narkathan nightmare is most exciting :'D Also, never did ask, but is the little silhouette meant to mean anything, or just a neat surreal representation of what's going on? (I can tell it's the scene in the artifact he's holding, but didn't know if it had any deeper meaning or what not)

Sort of a surreal/"What is the dream and what is real?" kind of deal. Β The Narkathans weave nightmare into their magic, and as mentioned they are a bit out of sync with what is 'physical.' Β I believe the concept is that outwardly he is changing/shadowfying, but somewhere in his mind he is the dragon 'crucified' on the tree beneath the Narkathan sun (which is a very unusual concept, I know).

My comment is even later than Apple's, I WIN >8D (or lose, alternatively D: )

Again man, I love love LOVE the little silhouette-esque scene at the top. Aside from it just looking visually good with the sharp color contrast and the red sun (which really stands out and just gives it an overall bleak look), the idea itself is cool; I'm imagining it's a reflection of what's going on in the real picture below :'D

The skull came out pretty darn nice, too. Thanks again, Void--I love it, even if a certain dragon does not!

My comment is EVEN LATER, and I'm glad you like it ^^ I had a somewhat different color scheme, but we went with Pyon's just cause it looked cooler overall.

This kind of blew my mind when I first saw it. I love the concept, and WOW it looks awesome. Darker themes are totally welcome in my book.

I'm glad you like it! It "pops" thanks to Pyon's colors, definitely, though that also went a long way toward convincing me that I need to ink and/or try to color in my pictures at this point. They just look so much better <<

Inking is good, if not frustrating. I'd say ink on a different sheet of paper than the pencils. And one day I'll take some of the advice I dole out.

Ah, thank you! The colors were all Pyon (other than the black; it was a war getting MS Paint to cooperate!) but she really made it look a lot better than it would have with just lineart and a black backdrop!
