I'm not totally sure about how this one turned out. I thought it'd be cool to show my desk(top) in a way that I hadn't really seen out on DA.

I thought I had a fairly clever way of going about setting this picture up. I took a "short" and "long" exposure. The long exposure defines the composition of the pic (gee, I almost sound like I know what I'm talking about don't I?) and gives the lights the glowing effect. The short exposure brought back the detail in the lights that were hella-blown out in the long exposure. But it's a small detail that's difficult to tell.

I took three sequential pictures of each exposure. I used a simple Photoshop techinque I read about on an Astrophotography website to decrease the noise/ grain caused by such a low light exposure. But it's a small detail that's difficult to tell.

Zoomed all the way in, my two tricks look great. Zoomed all the way out, you can't see the noise, and light effect is, in fact, very subtle. Turns out my whole image is kind of underexposed(dark).

The long exposure was the longest setting that my camera would time. To get more, I'd need a stop watch or an expensive remote that has a built in timer. Both of which, I don't have. Did I mention the timer remote was expensive? Yeah. I used an orange t-shirt over a Mag-lite® for my lighting. That should tell you something.
