Awww, poor Reala. Shame he puts up with so much abuse from Wizeman. He always looked so afraid in JoD. Made me sympathize, even if he was a jerk sometimes. At least NiGHTS is there to try and give him a decent time away from Nightmare for a bit before they go back to playing cat and mouse for the week.
As for favorites, they all look really good. You really captured a lot of emotions in here. Reala's fear is definitely not one many people tend to draw, so it's interesting to see that being given attention. You did a marvelous job with that! I also see some hesitation in the one where he and NiGHTS are talking, as though he's afraid to open up too much--wouldn't surprise me. NiGHTS looks ready to comfort, despite Reala's reluctance. Even Reala deserves a break from Wizeman's cruelty.

Exactly what I was trying to pull off! I was going to put some dialogue, but was like eh let the people decide. There are times to feel bad for Reala. His interaction with Wizeman always seem like he was masking his fear with deep respect ( just to avoid the consequences of getting punished ). It gives a reason why Reala does what he does, lest he suffers Wizeman's wrath. He has a lot of baggage to carry.
I'm surprise that not many don't touch on Reala's fear though. I mean, everyone feels fear sometimes, even rivals do.
The one with NiGHTS & Reala was tricky. Trying to get that hesitation look was a challenge, but I'm glad I was able to nail it. I'd imagine Reala having a difficult time opening up to the things he's going through. He does deserve a break. Reality tends to hit him in the face a lot.

That he does. Poor general could use some hugs, or just a pinch of courage to get out of that toxic relationship. But that's just me seeing parallels to really bad parents mistreating their children. Can also explain why Reala tries to bring NiGHTS back more willingly in Delight City. Lessen the punishment. He thinks he's helping NiGHTS out, but really isn't. Kind of sad when you put that into perspective.
Trust me, I am too. You mostly see anger, tears, or a simple sexy face for the fangirls/boys. 
Yeah, you did marvelously! Very good job! You managed to hit that sweet spot, I feel. I really can see Reala having trouble discussing such things. Be it pride, fear, or just a coping mechanism, or a mix of all three. He could use some nice NiGHTS hugs or a good venting session, if he was up for it. I'm sure NiGHTS will think of a nice distraction for them to do--maybe bust up his shard and get Reala more interested in completing the task of fixing it~

We must all create a sanctuary for this poor soul. It is NiGHTS mission to severely bless Reala and bring him to the light (amen). .
To me, NiGHTS always seemed more suave. Reala, more serious and obedient (to Wizeman that is). Don't really like having characters stick to one emotion (or expression). Gets boring ya know.
I guess I'm killing you guys with the feels ( I'm sorry, but curiosity made me do it ). Hmmmm, maybe I could draw NiGHTS teaching Reala how to break dance ( hell yeah straight up from the hood yo) or how to SING (we all know how that turned out). Not sure yet since other duties must be done first. But regardless of that, I'll see what I can come up with next time.

I agree on that front. NiGHTS seems more like the people-maren, unlike Reala.
I am fine with being killed with feels. BEST WAY TO GO! I do it to myself from time to time. But YES, have them doing some fun things to lighten the mood. Maybe a silly karaoke night or hanging out at the club and just dancing awkwardly.

Yes, some fans do tend to bring down a character *sigh* rather than respect the character. Best advice : do not see them in that light. Draw what you know about the character and question how they'll handle different emotions (play the "What if" question)( Be the character). Might be challenging but it works.
Hope that some of these sketches can help bring your drive back .

I'm slowly coming about on that front. It gets frustrating from time to time with the many comments bringing things down, but I just need to get over it. I'll get there soon enough! Reala's got his moments and gosh darn it I need to do him a little justice. I've drawn him pretty expressive back when I have an rp blog for him on Tumblr, but not many people enjoyed that.
Perhaps I'll whip something up sometime soon when I get the chance~ Reala should share in the mermaren love too.
