Description Hi guys,
This is what I've been working on the last few weeks. It's my entry for the "characters contest" on Blenderguru.com. ^^
Since it's my first humanoid character I'm not expecting to win anything.

I had to go outside of my comfort zone a lot, as I've never done anything like that. I can understand why people say that characters are the "king discipline" of 3D art. ^^"

I've also been using this project for learning purposes. I've followed a course of over 30 hours of video tutorials from "Blender Cookie" to learn the art of character creation including creating a original concept and sketch, sculpting, retopology, rigging and finally rendering it. While watching I've made about 20 pages of notes to remember the process correctly and use it on my own project. So this character was not created while watching the Tutorials but after watching most of them and making notes. The notes look like that:
I also had a lot of references like:     or   (Btw. They are amazing!)

I learned a lot, and making Characters is something I'd like to continue doing in the future. ^^

About the Specs: The image was completely created in Blender. I rendered it in Cycles at 10000 Samples in about 5 Hours. (My new render Pc is so fast! )

Finally, I am also entering this to the "Comfort-break challenge"  Comfort-break challenge! [WIN POINTS!]Heya Deviants! The challenges are back!!!!

As a follow-up of the speedpainting challenge and face-variety challenge I did last year, I want to organize new challenges in 2016 for people to take part in.
The general idea of a challenge is not that it's like a contest. Yes, you make art and there are prizes, but the main goal of a challenge is your own improvement. The idea of a challenge is that it gives you somewhat of a direction, and that it's more motivational to improve with others than alone. The prizes are there as an additional motivation, but the biggest prize is that you get better at art!
The challenge

The challenge is that you make an artwork that is outside your comfort zone.
You know, we all have our comfort zones. The things that we l by DamaiMikaz . Since I did a lot of stuff I never did before, I guess it fits quite perfectly into the theme! ^^

Cheers,
Kai

Glad my Nichole Render was of use to you.  Way too many samples!  Use a branched path with higher SSS and more diffuse.  Concept is great, proportions are a bit off.  Her hands are too small but the feet turned out nice. Her hair is well done and so is the lighting.  The bottle she is holding appears flat and looks 2D which doesn't quite fit.  Otherwise great job! Thanks for using me as a reference!

Thanks a lot for the comment and the compliments!
Yeah, I know those samples are way too many. Still I have not really figured out how to efficiently use branched path yet. And as I've got a pretty powerful PC at hand I went down the many samples road.. ^^"
And yes, the proportions aren't quite perfect. I'll try to consider your advice next time!

great job, mate!
I love the ammount of details you put there! from the subtle wall bumps to the ID and small pens (and that she's missing half a life from the tattoo )
Whoa! 10000 samples in 5 hours?! that's quick!
anyway, is there a reason why she is barefoot?

Thanks a lot! I'm glad you like it!
And yes, I put a lot of work into the details. I'm glad you recognized them all. ^^
Yeah, it really is! I'm definitely going to use this monster more in the future.
There's not really a reason why she is barefoot. People asked me that before. It probably simply does not really fit into a laboratory. Still in my original concept I thought it would be cool.. so that's why. ^^"

No problem ^^
I'm sure you'll enjoy it
well, it could be dangerous to be in the lab without wearing protection shoes, or any shoes at least, you could spill a radioactive snake blood into the floor and have superpowers, snekwoman

Haha, yes One never knows what can happen if you spill some chemicals. Still superpowers would be kind of cool, so maybe one should take the risk. xD
