Okay~ on episode 25 of the anime, Rem the shinigami killed L because he had just found out about Misa being the second Kira and Rem wanted to protect Misa.

Light (Kira), died on the last episode because Near found out he was Kira and Matsuda shot him out of anger and sadness. > n <
