Decepticons usually have better toys at their disposal anyway. I mean Knock Out had an iPad he was playing with in the"Shadowzone" episode. Atleast that's what I always called it.Β

I think they use these phones in the comics. Shock (or Ore) has one, Red Alert and Drift has a flip-phone (or communicator, whatever) too and I think Prowl uses one at some point in RID.
I always thought they were like lil compartiments in their armor which they can pull out and put back in, so they are for flipping because TRANSFORMERS.
