I was thinking of old myth, the green man is an ancient spirit of of the wilderness, believed to be the essence,energy, life force, behind all foliage. The idea of the green man is celebrates throughout many cultures, but is most strongly associated with England, France, and the Celts. Throughout Europe there are many statues, and images which depict the Green man. Most often as simply the face of an old man surrounded by leaves and vines, often emerging within the bark of a tree.
