The process for Nature's Challenge .I begin with basic sketching, then fill in the background and waves, adding the ship and cliffs later on. You'll notice the waves, rocks, clouds, and perspective all add to the composition. Color was kept very desaturated, making it more realistic, and allowing the sail to real 'jump out' as the focus point.
