I adore the smooth animation and how well everything goes together -- especially the moving objects and the non-moving areas around the animation. If this is just the early visual development, I want to see what it looks like when you get finished it.

Great stuff! Way above general Flash game animation.Β Definitely faving.
I saw the Birdie stuff too, lots of effort is put into your animations.
I'm really intrigued, mind answering a few technical questions to a beginner?
- Is the ship 3D? If yes, are the ground patterns also mapped to a 3D surface?
- The water ripples surrounding the earth block ignore the rest of the water animation, right?
- The borders of the water seem to be animated through some fractal algorithm, so the pattern repeating is a perfect square, while the border oscillates simultaneously?

No 3d was used here. these are all 2d symbols that I manipulated in giving the illusion of 3 dimensions.
Those ripples are are part of the ground rig, and the water flow animation is its own rig, so the ground and the ripples are sorted on top of that.
Those borders are their own separate rig sorted on top but its not an algorithm, I just hand animated them.

Wow, nice job on the symbol manipulation then, got me wondering about cel-shaded 3D on flash.

Thanks, it does still need to be refined, the movement is still jerky but its cool for test pruposes.
