Description
See, I make plushes besides ponies . . .I've never actually played TF2 myself. Not so much because I don't want to but because I have the hand-eye coordination of a pithed frog and just generally suck at anything that isn't Tetris. Anyhow, this was a commission for a small, simple beanie baby-type plush that will be part of an Engineer cosplay.
I sort of eyeballed the pattern from one I have to make footie pajamas, of all things (obviously, I'd never actually made it before). The blue is fleece, it's actually sort of teal since the fabric stores only had dark, dark blue and baby blue. The black shiny material is something my boss gave me out of her scrap box. Not sure what it's called, it's some kind of very thin PVC on a woven rayon backing. I think it's used to make waterproof outerwear. It was kind of a bear to work with since it didn't want to stretch at all, which is why the seams are a bit too puckery. I think that could be solved with using interfacing - I used it on the head, and that's much cleaner looking. The filter and goggle-eyes were spray painted silver, as were the little canisters on his belt - which are actually sleeping pills, believe it or not. He's weighted with plastic pellets so he's nice and squishy and sits up well.
There are a couple things I'd change if I ever made another one (but I'm NEVER happy with what I make, so that's par for the course) but overall it's not half bad.

Make a second one, give one a halo, and the other devil horns and a pitchfork, and you'll have your own real-life version of the "Cremator's Conscience."

Really nice choice of material for the boots, gloves and mask, and possibly the cutest use of a button on any plushie ever. What an adorable little arsonist! Snuggah huddah...

Thanks - it was raincoat material. Kind of hard to hand-sew.

I watched it like ten times in a row and I think I laughed so hard my spleen ruptured.

The fleece is in fact flame-retardant . . . I couldn't vouch for the other stuff, though.
