Description
You can find a pic without the background here: [link]This is the creature I created for the 9 contest.
He was meant to be a rodent-type animal (mainly a squirrel), but I went a little wild and I guess now it's all open to interpretation.
I spent so long on this thing, and I'm so relieved that I'm finally done!
I'm not very happy with the background. Other than that, this was very fun.
I can list the things he is made out of later if anyone would like to know, but now it's getting late, so I'll leave it at "thanks so much for looking"!

Yeah, we do^^ But I still like more of my g/f's place, it's closest to Finnish heaven than any place can be. Every time I'm there I wish I'd have a wide-angle lens or a panoramic camera, I guess I could never take a photo that's good enough to present the whole beauty of that place.

That's okay. You catch plenty of beauty on stages.
Your country is quite gorgeous, though. I think if I ever tour Europe I will have to stop by if only just to stare at the landscape (and catch a few metal festivals of course).

Thanks, I appreciate that
Oh, you really do^^ I could be your guide, we usually travel a lot in the summer by car to see some awesome places and so We were actually planning with my dad (who's an awesome architecture photographer) that we should some summer grab cameras with him and my lil'bro and go to shoot some places, that'll be a lot of fun. And with my g/f, we're gonna visit in Middle-age Weeks in Turku as soon as we can, I couldn't go with her this year 'cuz of lil'bros confirmation party
And here's a huge bunch of viking and middle-age festivals every summer, it would be so fun to some day visit all of 'em
And what comes to the festivals, there's like five that are officially metal festivals, but there's a lot of metal bands in other festivals, too. But the best in metal is Sauna Open Air in Tampere^^ It's not so thrash, alternative and black oriented than Tuska sometimes seems to be (though for example Sonata visits Tuska almost every year), and I love Tampere-city, it's not too south and so

That sounds like so much fun. You have gobs of stuff to do!
We have one medieval festival called the Rennaissance Festival that actually takes place really close to where I live. I want to go so bad this year (it starts next week!) They have tons of games and food and stuff, but the best things are all the shows and jousting. I'll have to get my friends to come with me.
We seriously need some music festivals in the states. Everybody makes such a major deal about Woodstock in New York, but I say, "we need more!"
π: 0 β©: 1
Lenedict In reply to Voodoo-Wolf [2009-09-28 18:22:39 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I do have every summer But mostly it's just that we go to couple festivals (usually it's three different music festivals in a summer), go to see some far-living relatives, maybe to some other events, just ex tempore, but the most of the summer goes at my dad's or mum's place or at my g/f's. I'm so in love with Ella's home, it's maybe the best summer place ever, beats both of my grandparent's homes anytime
The best ever not-music festival to visit would be the viking market in Saltvik, in the Ahvenanmaa-region in south. Ahvenanmaa is the biggest island here, they have their own flag and stamps and all, but it still belongs to Finland. But it's so close to Sweden that everyone speaks Swedish and the viking culture is there in a more authentical place, if you can say so.
I guess so, too, 'cuz Woodstock is like the only festival I know there besides Ozzfest and that kind of things Here we have at least one festival in every city, local bands playing in smaller towns, and four or five big international festivals, Ruisrock, Tuska, Sauna Open Air, Ankkarock and so. And of course Provinssirock, my home festival, one of the oldest, biggest, and definitely most popular one. People come to Provinssi as much for the feeling than for bands, most of them says that there's the best festival-feeling ever. I so agree with them, though I like metal festivals almost as much as Provinssi. But nothing can beat the feeling at the beginning of first day of Provinssirock, it's like midsummer's eve, the 1st of may and the circus arriving to the town at the same time and much more, I totally love it

In the summer I just sit around and do nothing because it's so hot. Pretty pathetic actually.
Have you ever been on a viking ship? That just seems like such a fun thing. And to meet vikings too. Wow.
I think part of the problem here with festivals is that there is a certain feeling towards the "music crowd" that isn't very nice. Most people view rock/metal musicians and their fans as bad people, sadly.
If there were metal fests in every city I'm sure there would be people trying to get them shut down. So much for freedom of expression, right? I got super lucky because both my parents are metal fans, so they don't mind me listening to the heavy stuff, even if they still think some of it's weird.

Mm-mh, luckily the degrees are not quite high here, 30 celsius-degrees is about the highest it gets, usually it's somewhere between 20 and 25. No I haven't, it would be totally awesome. But we sail quite a lot with small, ordinary boats, usually on rivers and lakes.
I've heard that kind of things, too. But the fact is, that there's always some people who're trying to stop the arranging of festivals, even Provinssirock, which has now history of over 30 years, and though Tuska and Sauna Open Air are the most peacefull festivals in Finland (for example during Tuska, the police alarms in Helsinki have been in zero in for years), there's always a small group of people that make a huge deal about everything and do almost anything to stop 'em. But they really can't do nothing about it 'cuz everyone gets something good from the festivals; for example Provinssirock brings millions of euros every year to SeinΓ€joki.

I'm so jealous. It's 22 C right now, so it feels really nice, but in the summer we reach highs of around 40. I can remember so many times looking at our thermometer, reading over 100 degrees Fahrenheit and wanting to go jump in a giant freezer or something.
Wow. I guess people need to just learn to accept it. The music will never die!

Oh my gosh, that must be so frustrating. It's nice to go to sauna but if I start to feel like being in sauna anywhere else, I'd go crazy I don't even like sauna when it's too hot, 60-70 C is quite enough for me.

Oh, I totally love sauna, it's really one of the best things in the world that you go first to the sauna to sweat and then run into a friggin cold lake, it's so awesome Me and my g/f are both like real ΓΌber-Finns, sauna, coffee, salty liquorice, icehockey and metal are like the best of the best

Hey, that's cool. I'd run into a friggin cold lake any day.
I love icehockey.
My family used to go and volunteer at every local hockey game before my sister was born. I was even part of the booster club and got to sit on the players' laps sometimes during public appearances. Most fun a four-year-old could ever have.

And we always watch the world championships, it was a real pain when they were in Canada, all of us woke up at the middle of the night and almost fell asleep at the art class, teacher really had fun

My fav team is the Carolina Hurricanes. I was so happy because they won the Stanley Cup one year.
Just last week we got a free trial of the hockey channel on TV. I'm so excited.
When I was little it was the Indianapolis Ice, but I'm so sad because their Arena was torn down and they stopped playing. And of course all the players we used to hang out with are gone now.

Lenedict In reply to Voodoo-Wolf [2009-10-06 06:52:00 +0000 UTC]
My fav from NHL is Anaheim Ducks, it's sad that they don't show NHL games that often over here, but every time there's clips from Ducks game in sports news, they can't separate me from tv Teemu SelΓ€nne is definitely one of the best forwards that has ever came from Finland, and it's so great that Saku Koivu is now playing in the same team
Saku's younger brother Mikko is a fabulous player, too, and so is Tuomo Ruutu, Jarkko Ruutu's little brother.
That sounds really sad. I've never had an opportunity to go and see some real icehockey games, if we don't count some lower league games in SeinΓ€joki. It's dumb that it's so hard to get tickets to KΓ€rpΓ€t games, there's been rumors that almost all the tickets are given to their arena sponsors or something, but I don't quite believe that.
π: 0 β©: 1
Voodoo-Wolf In reply to Lenedict [2009-10-07 22:51:19 +0000 UTC]
We love the Ducks too. Well, we love everybody pretty much, but that shouldn't matter too much.
Hey, Tuomo Ruutu plays for the Hurricanes! Hee hee. Oh, sorry, having a happy moment. He's so cool.
I really miss the Ice, but now I'm only two hours away from where the Hurricanes play, and they're pretty awesome. I've only gone to see them play once when I was seven. Now sometimes we get free tickets to the local team's games (the Checkers), but they really aren't that great to be honest. I really want to see another NHL game soon. Maybe I'll convince my friends to come with me.
Tickets aren't that hard to get here because most people would rather see an NFL american football game or or basketball or baseball, which are some of the dumbest sports in my opinion. Maybe it's harder in the bigger cities like Anaheim, Detroit, and Pittsburgh. Just places like that with huge NHL teams.

Lenedict In reply to Voodoo-Wolf [2009-10-08 07:55:28 +0000 UTC]
Oh yeah, Tuomo is sooooooooooo cute I read some years ago an article where their mum told that Tuomo still hugs her every time he's going to sleep at home, that was like the sweetest thing I've ever heard about some icehockey player. *heartmelt*
But now I'm quite frightened about a gossip, that Petteri Nummelin would be ending his career as a player, he just can't do that
Yeah, I've heard a lot about that icehockey ain't that big thing there than we here think, mainly 'cuz of the quality of the teams. That feels kinda dumb during the world championships, when our team is trying so hard to win yours and then we hear that it ain't a big deal for those who win. But those games are the best to watch, so I shouldn't complain
It would be so cool to get to see a NHL-game some day, we had the NHL warm-up games here in Finland this year, but of course they were too far, and the teams there weren't that interesting. Maybe some year if we're going to see our relatives in Michigan, I could get to see some real icehockey

Yes, yes. He is quite a studly man. And that is so adorable.
Petteri's like, what, 30-something? He's still young! He should go on.
I hope you do get to see an NHL game. It's so much fun. And hey, if you go the Michigan you can see the Red Wings. They're among the best of course.
Icehockey FTW. Best sport ever invented. Ever.

Yeah, he's few years younger than Teemu SelΓ€nne, if I remember right. He's been playing in Switzerland for some years now, so I can't see his games anywhere else but in world championships. But he is just the best forwarding defenceman ever. I sure hope he still plays when they get the world championships to Helsinki, I'd so go to see 'em!
I totally agree. Icehockey is pure magick.

Aww. Little guys.
Speaking of the lil' ones, I was just at a kid's concert-type thing last night. My family sometimes hangs out with the people that own a music school/studio place, so we always go see the students perform. The place was decorated for Halloween, so it was pretty cool. The guy who runs it hung a gigantic creepy skull over the drum kit, so we were all thinking, "what if it falls and squishes the drummer?"
I wish I had brought my camera. It was pretty amazing, and the kids can play so good! There were like, 12-year-olds up there playing stuff seasoned adults couldn't barely even try to play. The whole time I was wishing I had a band. The whole thing is just so much fun.

Oh yeah, we used to go to band camps with my lil'bro some years ago, it was always so great to get to play for the real audience with a real band and real mixing and lightshow and so on And lil'bro and the band he had back then played for couple times in Little-Provinssi, a club night for primary-school aged kids and their bands, which is held every year few weeks before Provinssirock. Now he's teaching middle school kids to play Nothing Else Matters, and says he couldn't like the song any less

That's funny. The radio stations for my area barely ever play it. Sometimes they play the new sucky Metallica and I'm like, no! Go away!
I guess I wouldn't want to listen to it all the time.

In here Radio Rock plays Metallica at least once an hour, and mainly the old stuff. Of course there comes sometimes The Day That Never Comes, All Nightmare Long and so, but never anything from St. Anger ('cuz that's like shittiest ever) and lot of songs from Justice. Not like I liked Metallica that much, but I prefer listening to it than some fuckin' r'n'b

Lenedict In reply to Voodoo-Wolf [2009-10-17 19:14:33 +0000 UTC]
Oh yeah, it's way better than Unia, but my best friend is a total idiot and said that the whole album is total crap, he's being so goddamn diva'ish with his opinions. Guys seem to get their heads filled once they learn how to put notes together. Why can't he be happy that Tony even managed to do this good album with all his Tuomas Holopainen -imitations? Gosh. This is the first time we've ever argued about Sonata, horrible.
Oh, I like Flag In the Ground, Last Amazing Grays and Everything Fades to Gray's instrumental most, gotta listen to the album more^^

Voodoo-Wolf In reply to Lenedict [2009-10-17 19:31:00 +0000 UTC]
Really? That's so mean. I thought the album was great both instrumentally and in content. It's fun to listen to. I actually turned it on and am listening to it right now.
None of my friends around here listen to SA or anything similar, so they probably wouldn't like it either, but calling it crap is pretty harsh. Does your friend like the earlier albums?
