Well, just imagine your favorite TV show character who you've grown to like over the course of many seasons suddenly starts killing children and torturing them and feeling totally good about himself. Now that's an overexegerated example, but it's kinda how I feel about it.

How bout I imagine a character invented by an artist I like gets melted in a vat of acid? It's pretty brutal, but I know that he's not "dead" and that the artist will still continue to draw them.

That's not for every artist though. They often therefor create side characters that they can easily kill off and forget about them and those won't come back. And I think that's the case here

Well, artists draw one-time-use characters all the time. How is this any different than, say, a drawing of a sword fight where some unrecognizable and vague character is killed? Would you feel the same as you do looking at fatal digestion?

I think the issue is that being eaten and digested is instantly one of possibly the most painful deaths imaginable. Now, I want to preface this by saying I have absolutely no issue with Panda drawing whatever they want, that's entirely their choice, same as what they choose to show in their gallery, and people really need to calm down. However, the moment you end up in a stomach, you are instantly submerged in acids that are going to absolutely dissolve and burn you the moment they touch you. I was doing a high school chemistry experiment once and we were messing with hydrochloric acid (the stuff that's found in your stomach) and we had to be given massive warnings because the stuff would burn if we touched it or if it got on us. I personally have an issue with fatal/digestion for this reason (not to mention the idea of it terrifies the absolute shit out of me), but I do feel like people are going a bit too far with their comments and making far too big a deal out of it. The image here does not show the actual digestion, fatal is just implied. I'm also thinking there's possibly an issue with people seeing being eaten as too harsh a punishment for just being unruly, which I can also understand, but again, it isn't my place to say what Panda should or should not draw.
I apologize if this comment offends you or anything, that absolutely was not my intent and I really think people in the comments here need to tone it down, but yeah, just thought I'd offer my best ideas on an explanation. I can see where these people are coming from, but I absolutely agree that they are taking it too far.

Ah, so in your opinion, people make such a fuss about it because it's an agonizing way to go? I suppose that makes a little more sense, but, like you said, I don't think it warrants the reaction that it's getting. Vore's fantastical anyway. If we're suspending disbelief, why can't we just ignore the fact that it might be painful in real life and pretend that it's painless; the same way we pretend that giant omnivorous red pandas exist?

Panda said it themselves in a response to a comment that if people are really getting butt-hurt about the fact that it's implied fatal, they can just pretend that it's not fatal. That's one of the things that really bothers me about the reaction to this. Panda has drawn really gore-y stuff and they've never had to make a post telling people they can draw whatever they want because of gore, it's the implied fatal that gets the ridiculous reactions... (I might be wrong but I never look at the gore-y stuff anyway, too squeamish XD, but I've never seen them have to make an announcement based on gore alone) But yeah, none of it's real anyway, so it really shouldn't matter.Β

Well, sometimes artists like to branch out a bit. Heh, you can always imagine take the prey reforms somehow afterwards.
Or if that doesn't work, you can always pretend that the prey was a real big jerk, like, horrible person level of jerkiness.
