Description      Robbi's eyes fluttered open and she rolled onto her side.  Squinting in the sunlight, she tried to cover her eyes and saw a paw.  In a rush, the memory of the tranquilizer shot came to her and she was on her feet.

Looking around, she was in a rather well-decorated bedroom, laying on a large rug.  Sunbeams poured in through a huge window with green drapes on either side.  As she started to move, she heard a strange rattling and was suddenly choking.  A chain ran from her collar to an eyelet that was bolted to the floor at the foot of the window.  It only allowed her about a four foot arc of movement, and all the furniture seemed strategically placed to be out of reach.

She mewed a pathetic roar of desperation and anger, sounding like a lost kitten on steroids.  So many panicked thoughts were running through her head.  Where was Brenda?  What was this place?  Who had taken her?  Why was she chained up?  She buried her face in her paws and wept.

"Hello, Robbi," a man's voice suddenly said.  She glanced up, then got to her feet and snarled.  It was Brenda's father, George McDowell.

"Oh, good.  You recognize me.  It's nice to know that being turned into an animal hasn't affected your mind.  That will make this much easier," he said, pulling a chair over and sitting just out of reach of the chain.

Robbi just glared at him and growled.

"I know you've never liked me, Rob, and the truth is I've never liked you either.  In fact, I think you were one of the worst decisions my daughter made in her life.  You quit college, but forced her to finish.  You failed to find a job and expected her to support you.  But because of your bohemian ways, you encouraged her to 'follow her dreams' and make pottery for a living."  There was a twinge of anger rising in his voice.

"A potter?  Brenda was so bright, so capable, she could have done anything.  She should have been a doctor, but you saw free to divert her from that course, didn't you?  Well I will not stand for it any longer.  I will not let her live in that hovel you two call a home, nor will I let her continue in this so called life that you shuffled her into."

Suddenly the door burst open and a young girl in a pink dress and pigtails came running in.  "Daddy! Daddy!" she shouted.  Robbi's eyes went wide when he recognized the curly red hair and the splash of freckles across her nose.  It was Brenda.

"Hey, Sweetie!  Welcome home!  Did you miss me?" Mr. McDowell said, glancing sideways at Robbi and smiling a he picked up his daughter and hugged her.  An older man in a lab coat slowly pulled the doors shut.

Robbi was completely shocked.  She'd heard that using the nanites to reverse the aging process had been strictly forbidden by the government.  It seemed the process would invariably destroy memories as well.  Clearly Mr. McDowell had banked on that fact so he could 'reset' his daughter and let her grow up all over again.

Brenda squeezed her father's neck and grinned.  She was clearly oblivious of what had been done to her and what had been taken away.  She spotted Robbi and her face lit up.

"Kitty!" she said, releasing her father and running over to hug Robbi.  The cheetah didn't resist, and instead nuzzled her back warmly, giving her ear a loving lick.  A familiar giggle escaped the girl's lips.

"Fuzzy kitty!" she said, laying on Robbi's back and hugging her again.

"Yes, she is fuzzy isn't she.  She's just visiting us for a few days though," Mr. McDowell explained.  Robbi looked up at him questioningly and Brenda sounded disappointed.

     "Awww," she said.

The door opened again and a beautiful blonde woman entered.  Robbi raised an eyebrow, not recognizing her at first, but then she figured it out.  It was Mrs. McDowell, but she looked about 20 years younger.  Clearly she'd had some work done as well.

"Mommy!" Brenda said, jumping off Robbi and rushing into her mother's arms.  Mrs. McDowell lifted her up and hugged her.  As they chatted, Mr. McDowell got close to Robbi to speak.

"I'll change you back in a few days and send you on your merry way.  But first I wanted to you see this.  To see that she was all mine again, and free from your detestable influences," he hissed.  He then stood and joined his family, giving Robbi one last knowing glance before they left the room.

As the door shut, Robbi already knew she had lost.  But she also knew she had to get free.

What a twist! Though I don't think Mr. McDoushbag would let Robbi off so easy. Think about it, if Rob is changed back, then he can report to the proper authorities, and Mr. McDunce's plan of "re-raising" his daughter goes down the shitter. I think it would make more sense if Mr. McDolt has other, more sinister plans for Robbi and was simply lying to avoid the cat's suspicion.
