Description
Jesse was walking through the mall drinking a watermelon smoothie when his phone rang."Apricot Parmesan," said the voice on the other end of the line. Jesse suddenly stopped in his tracks and stared ahead like a zombie.
"Go to the second floor and find Manuel's Prom and Wedding Shoppe. Go inside and stand near the tuxedos. Then become a 40XL, baby powder blue tuxedo with shirt and dickey. Go now," the voice instructed.
Jesse continued walking without saying a word, phone still held to his ear. He marched straight to the escalator and proceeded upstairs, taking the most direct route to the store he'd been ordered to visit. Stepping inside, he glanced around and spotted the tuxedos.
"Hang up the phone," the voice said indignantly. He snapped the phone shut and slipped it back into his pocket as he moved to the clothing racks.
A tall Hispanic gentleman was sitting near a set of mirrors in jeans and a T-shirt. He was leaning on his knees and looking depressed. A female attendant was helping a young girl pick out a frilly prom dress in another corner.
Closing his eyes and concentrating, Jesse's whole body turned baby blue as his chest opened up and his head withered into his collar. His hands receded into his sleeves and his feet shrunk into his pant legs as the substance of his body evaporated. His torso fell forward onto the rack of suits, laying across them like a discarded sweater as his lower body crumpled to the floor.
"I'm very sorry, Mr. Sanchez, but the suit has not arrived yet," another Hispanic man was saying as he came out of the back. The depressed man stood, looking defeated.
"My sister's wedding is this afternoon. I need my suit," he insisted, towering over the Tailor.
"I am sorry, sir. But as you see my regular sizes to not run," he started to say, moving over to the rack of tuxedos. He paused, noticing the baby blue tuxedo that seemed to have been casually discarded rather than being hung up properly.
"Aye-yi-yi," he said, picking Jesse up and looking for a hanger. He then looked a little closer and then glanced at the tall man.
"What was that size again?" he asked.
"40XL," Sanchez said, a bit frustrated.
"I don't believe it," the Tailor said, bringing Jesse the suit over to him. "It seems I have one after all."
His eyes brightening, Sanchez took the coat and slipped it on. It was a perfect fit for the tall man. Taking the shirt and pants, he moved into a dressing room and donned the entire ensemble. When he came out, he looked considerably happier.
"It fits great! Thank you, Manuel," he said, checking in the mirror. Manuel came over with a pair of size 14 shoes and matching socks.
"It was nothing," shrugged the Tailor.

Enrique Sanchez was one of the best dressed best men at his sister's wedding. He received many compliments on the fit of his suit and he raved about Manuel's shop.
After the wedding, Enrique felt something hard in his pocket and reached inside. He found a cell phone. Suddenly, it rang and he instinctively answered it.
"Hello?" he said. A voice told him the phone belonged to him and asked that he please leave it in the jacket so he could pick it up at the tailor the next day. Enrique agreed, closed the phone and put it back in the pocket.
At the reception, one of the bridesmaids took a shine to the tall Hispanic, asking him to dance several times. Although she was a foot shorter than he was, she was taken in by his eyes and he was entranced by her charm. After the party, he got her number and promised to call that weekend for drinks.
Returning to Manuel's the next afternoon with the suit on a hangar, he thanked the Tailor once again. Manuel informed him that the suit they had ordered arrive that morning as well, but when they compared the two suits side by side, they could easily tell that the one he'd worn was the much better fit. After their farewells, the suits were hung in the back to await dry cleaning. As he returned to the parking lot, Enrique remembered about the cell phone, having forgotten to mention it to Manuel.
In the back room of the shop, the cell phone rang. Somehow it seemed to pick up, and a voice was heard to say "Apricot Parmesan."
"Turn back into yourself and quietly leave the store. Return to the food court, sit down and then wake up," it continued.
The jacket and pants formed back into a torso and legs, filling in and growing a head. The hanger stayed under the collar of Jesse's shirt, so he pulled it out and hung it back on the rack. His body completely reformed, he proceeded to march out of the store. Manuel was busy measuring an inseam and didn't notice the man come out of the back room, and two other female attendants were busy with a wedding dress fitting.
Jesse continued downstairs and back to the food court where he quietly sat down on a bench.
Shaking his head, he looked around, feeling strange. As he got up, his phone rang.
"Hey, Jesse! You coming over for poker or what?" his friend Ralph asked.
Jesse checked his watch and shook his head. "Um, yeah. Sorry dude. I could have sworn it was Wednesday," he said.
