Description
Once she had her books she headed upstairs to the windowless Economics classroom. Slipping inside, she took her normal seat and waited for Mr. Langingham. As wrestling coach, economics was more of his secondary position, so he was often late to class himself. Then Susie came into class. She was Ray’s last girlfriend, but they’d only really dated for about three weeks and never even went out together.’ She was a little heavy and had low self-esteem, so Ray had offered to be her boyfriend. While it thrilled her at first, she also turned out to be needy, possessive, and a little obsessive. Most nights she would call to talk and when everything had been said they’d just sit there breathing into the phone for ten minutes before Ray got the nerve to suggest that they get back to ‘other things.’ Eventually, the emotional baggage just became too much and he broke it off. She hadn’t taken it well, and had given him the evil eye and the cold shoulder since.
She was dressed in a Minnie Mouse costume that was clearly too small for her. This class was all seniors, so there weren’t too many dressed up at all.
Georgia avoided eye contact, hoping that Susie wouldn’t notice her. She pulled out her cell phone to check if Peter had texted her back.
There was indeed a text reply while she was in-between classes.
“Dude! Is that you, Ray?” Georgia heard William say nearby as he took a seat next to her. She could only hope it wasn’t loud enough for Susie to overhear. Who knows how she would react to this?
Georgia glanced up and looked around nervously to see if anyone else had noticed.
“Hey, William. Yeah, it’s me,” Ray muttered. He tried to sit up straight and proud to get back into being Georgia, but it was hard when the illusion had already been shattered.
She replied to Peter quickly.
“Oh, sorry. Are you playing some sort of character right now? Hope I didn’t spoil anything,” William said, quieting down a bit as he noticed Ray’s reaction.
People were still shuffling in, so there was still a bit of commotion. Seemed nobody had really paid attention to William’s remark. Her phone buzzed again.
Georgia sighed when she read Peter’s reply then looked back up at William.
“Yeah, sort of. I’m Georgia. Pleased to make your acquaintance,” she said, exaggerating her persona and accent a bit. She held out a hand for him to kiss.
He glanced down at her hand and then raised an eyebrow as he looked back up. When he didn’t take it, Georgia nervously retracted her hand.
“Right. Hey, did we have any homework yesterday?” he asked, trying to change the subject.
“Um ... Yeah. We had to make up a monthly budget,” she said, opening her book that had her homework folded inside.
Georgia’s phone buzzed again. She pulled it out and saw a text message from Teresa.
Georgia rolled her eyes. How embarrassing.
“Ah crap, I knew I should have written it down. Do you think I could see yours real fast?” William asked Georgia.
“Huh? Well, sure, but ... You can’t just copy it. The information has to fit you personally,” she said, offering him the sheet. “See, this shows how much I spend each month on food, rent, personal expenses.”
She then proceeded to start helping William to build his own budget from scratch, scooting her chair a little closer and leaning over near him.
After a few minutes, William sniffed the air. “Are you wearing perfume?” he asked.
Georgia just smiled and nodded, tapping the page to keep him focused on the budget. Eventually, his chart was coming together nicely.
“Ah, I think I get it. Thanks. I’ll be able to draw one up pretty easy before the teacher gets in,” William said, writing some information down. Georgia smiled and straightened her chair with her desk.
“Seriously though, man, perfume? I mean, it’s working for the illusion you’re trying to portray, but doesn’t it feel a bit overboard?” he asked discreetly, focusing on his paper.
“Well, I ... I mean ... I’m a girl, right? Girls wear makeup and perfume. Costumes are about a little exaggeration anyway,” she said, glancing instinctively at her chest.
Just then Mr. Langingham came in and the chatter when deadly silent. He was only 5’2”, but was also solid muscle and cut an intimidating gaze. The seats in the room faced inward, rather than all toward the board, so at least half the class could look straight at Georgia.
“Budgets, please,” he said, striding to the front of the class. Kids started handing their papers sideways toward the teacher’s desk. William was still frantically trying to finish his and Georgia noticed that Susie was staring right at her.
She couldn’t tell if Susie recognized who she really was, but she turned away after a second or two. Glancing over briefly every now and then with a confused look on her face.
William managed to finish his paper just in time to hand it up before Mr. Langingham got to his row. He sighed in relief and gave Georgia a wink and a thumbs up.
Once Mr. Langingham was back up at the board, Georgia pulled out her phone for a quick reply to Teresa.
Inwardly, she wouldn’t mind staying dressed up a little longer or more often, but this day had been enough of an emotional roller coaster that Ray was ready to put Georgia to bed. This was the longest he’d been dressed up and the most he’d ever tried pretending to be a girl. It was certainly harder than it looked.
Mr. Langingham wheeled over a television and prepared to put on a video for the class. Georgia looked back at Susie and saw that she was looking at her again, still a bit confused. Was she trying to figure out who she really was?
Her phone buzzed again.
Georgia rolled her eyes and replied quickly while Mr. Langingham was distracted.
The video was one of those boring educational films about how the stock market works and managing your trading portfolio and how to financially prepare yourself for your future and retirement. Stuff that most high school students would barely care about.
Georgia’s phone kept buzzing with more messages.
Georgia sighed.
With the lights turned down, it was harder to see if Susie was still watching her. She was also feeling a little self-conscious sitting next to William after the football player’s comments about her costume. She hoped this wouldn’t start a string of rumors around the school that Ray was gay or something.
That line of thinking got Georgia to recall her conversation with Stacey. She did notice how much Stacey appreciated the fact that Georgia accepted her regardless of her sexual orientation. It seemed to really mean a lot to her to have such support from what seemed to be a complete stranger.
Georgia pursed her lips.
Teresa was just teasing of course, and Georgia reflected over the day and how well she’d been accepted in most respects. How much she enjoyed dressing like this, acting like a girl and being treated as one. If only she could do it more often without causing a stir.
Maybe she should tell Teresa the truth about her crossdressing and see if she might be willing to help him dress up again in private? She’d been so understanding so far, and the worst she could do was refuse.
The video ended and that was quickly followed by the bell. The day was just about over, and Georgia felt a mixed bit of relief and sadness that she’d be returning to her normal self soon. As she collected her books, Susie walked up to her desk.
“Excuse me? I’m sorry if this is a bit rude, but do I know you? You look a bit familiar to me, but I can’t quite remember,” she said, almost genuinely bothered by this admission.
Georgia’s mouth fell open and words escaped her. Could she really fool an ex-girlfriend this close up?
“I don’t think so. I’m Georgia. Pleased to meet’cha,” she said, clutching her books close and tossing her hair. She needed to turn up her feminine side to get through this one.
She gave William a casual glance, hoping he wouldn’t blow it for her.
William just nodded to Georgia and headed on out of the classroom, getting the subtle hint that he might just blow her cover if he stayed. Susie cocked her head for a moment, looking carefully at Georgia.
“Strange. I could have sworn I had seen you before,” she said, then shook her head dismissively.
“Maybe you saw me around earlier, or at lunch?” she said with a smile.
“Anyway, sorry about that. I’m Susie,” she started over, holding out her hand.
Georgia took her hand and shook it gently. “Nice to meet you. Too bad the day is over,” she said with a small pout.
“Yeah, well maybe we’ll see each other again tomorrow? I feel like maybe we could become good friends,” Susie said with a smile on her face.
Georgia smiled back. “Oh, sure. That would be nice,” she said, collecting her books and heading out into the hall. How weird would it be to become a BFF with the girl she had previously dumped. She needed to get away from Susie and find Teresa.
Susie headed off in another direction, giving Georgia the breath of relief she was hoping for. Along the way to her locker she noticed Teresa grabbing her things. She happened to glance up and see Georgia coming her way and gave a friendly wave as she smiled at her.
Georgia smiled and waved back. It was nice to see a friendly face after a day full of uncertainty and nervousness. She opened her locker and stashed her books.
“Well, that was a heck of a day,” she said to Teresa. “Wait until I tell you what happened with Stacey.”
Teresa’s eyes widened a bit at the mention of Stacey.
“Uh oh! What’s going on with Stacey?” she said, sounding really concerned.
Georgia glanced around conspiratorially and leaned in closer to Teresa. “Well, Jason asked me to speak with her, right? So I sat next to her in Health class. Whether it was the low-lighting or what, she didn’t recognize me. We talked a bit about the problems she’s been having, not just with Jason, but with her life. I noticed her glancing at ... Well, my chest. I think ... I’m pretty sure she’s ... Gay,” she said, whispering very quietly on the last word.
"Oh my goodness!" Teresa said with wide eyes. "Does Jason even know?"
Georgia shrugged. “I don’t think so. He just thinks she’s being moody. Should I tell him? He ‘did’ ask me to talk with her, but if he got upset and went to her, she might think I was spying on her,” she said with concern.
"No. You can't tell him any of this. First of all, it's not your place. Stacey should be the one to tell him, and in her own way. You'd only make things worse for both of them. I just hope it works out for those two. Not everyone takes such break ups lightly. You should know, right?" Teresa said pensively.
Georgia nodded understandingly. “Yeah, you’re right,” she said. She certainly did hope that Stacey and Jason were able to work things out. Glancing up and down the hall, she saw students headed for the busses.
“Look, um ... Can we ... Well, I suppose I should get changed. But can we talk? Privately?” she asked. After having spent the whole day in costume, she was actually hesitant to return to normal.
"Of course. Let's go to the changing room by the stage, where this whole big day for you began, right?" Teresa said as she closed her locker and motioned for Georgia to lead the way.
Georgia chuckled and headed down the hall, walking confidently under the curious glances for various students. It was a stark contrast to the nervous ‘girl’ who moved meekly through the halls this morning.
They pushed into the changing room and Georgia held the door for Teresa.
“So ... Thanks again for all your help. It was really fun,” she said as the door closed.
“Oh good! I’m glad you had such a good time with it,” Teresa said, beaming with delight.
“But, I wanted to let you know that ... Well ... This ... Isn’t my first time dressing up as a girl,” she said timidly, pausing to judge Teresa’s reaction.
Teresa paused a moment, then smirked back at Georgia.
“Yeah, I kinda figured that. I mean, you were rather enthusiastic about it and didn’t seem too intimidated about going throughout the day looking like that. I’m actually a bit impressed you kept at it and managed to even fool a few people into thinking you were actually a woman. That’s pretty impressive,” she said.
Georgia blushed a little, but smiled at the accolades. “Oh, well ... Thanks, I guess,” she said, glancing down at herself again.
“I ... Like looking like this. I like dressing like this. But ... It’s not something I can do all the time, especially in public,” she said with a shrug.
Teresa cocked her head for a moment at Georgia, then folded her arms and smiled.
“Why not? You clearly fooled quite a bit of the class today, right? At least that’s what I kept hearing all day. You certainly can play the part, just like you do in theater, so why not try dressing like this all the time? You certainly seemed to have fun with it, right? We could even get you some more clothes to dress up in at the mall after school if you’d like. I’ll come with you so you won’t feel that awkward about it. What do you say?” she chimed, looking her up and down.
Georgia blinked in surprise. Was Teresa really suggesting what she thought she was suggesting?
“Wait ... What?” she stammered. “I can’t just ... I mean ... It’s Halloween so ... This was allowed. It’s a costume. But ... If I showed up tomorrow like this I’d ... I’d be a laughing stock,” she said.
Inwardly, the idea tantalized her, but practically, she knew it was impossible. To suddenly shift her gender and her outward appearance so drastically would be ... Awkward.
Teresa smiled and touched Georgia’s shoulder.
“How many people laughed at you today? How many really saw through your act and disguise? Think about it. You might actually enjoy it, if you give it a try.” she said.
Georgia considered her words. Sure, she had fooled people and that had been fun and exciting. But to start dressing like this all the time?
“But what about the school? Will they even let me? What about my parents? They don’t even know I do this,” she started rambling.
Teresa just grabbed both of Georgia’s hands and moved closer, kissing her on the lips in a very sincere and passionate way. It almost shocked Georgia because she wasn’t even thinking along those lines, much less expecting Teresa to kiss her. She held the kiss for a few seconds before pulling away and looking into her eyes.
“No matter what anyone else thinks, I like you just the way you are. You’ve shown me a part of yourself that you’ve kept so guarded from everyone else. You even let me help you explore this further than you would have done on your own. I’ve seen and heard how much this makes you happy, and I want to help you enjoy it as much as you want,” she said staring into Georgia’s eyes.
Georgia was stunned into silence, and just started back at Teresa for several seconds. She finally blinked herself back to reality.
“You ... Really? You wanna ... Go steady?” she asked uncertainly.
Teresa smiled and nodded at her.
“I want to get to know you better. I mean the real you, Ray, and this woman you so enjoy dressing up as, not just this Georgia character you came up with just for today. I feel like I know you a little better already having helped you through today, but I also feel there’s so much more to know about who you are and who you want to be,” she said.
Tears welled up in Georgia’s eyes and she started to choke up. “I ... I don’t know what to say. I mean ... Today was ... So different. Fun and scary at the same time. I’d like to do it again ... But ... I think it will be much easier with you by my side,” she said.
She chuckled at the thought of showing up at school like this again tomorrow.
“If I’m going to become a girl at school, do you think I should drop the accent?” she said in a soft, feminine version of her normal voice? “Should I continue to be ‘Georgia,’ or should I just become ... Rachel or something?”
“I think Rachel is a perfect name for you, and that voice sounds just wonderful for a girl named Rachel, too. Oh we’re going to have so much fun getting you ready for your first new day at school. I just know you’re going to love it!” Teresa said, taking Ray’s hand and leading him out of the school.

That night, Teresa took ‘Rachel’ shopping to get her a few sets of girl clothes and a set of real breast forms that looked and felt better than the balloons she’d been using.
When they got home, Ray’s parents were a bit surprised to find their son dressed as a girl. Teresa was her perfect advocate, explaining that it was a kind of a social experiment to learn more about how girls are treated. While his mother easily saw through this excuse and quickly gave her blessing, his father only warmed up to the idea because of his son’s opportunities to get into the girl’s locker room. With his parents help, they were able to make proper arrangements with the school so all the staff were aware of this sudden change.
Ray’s friends were a bit startled to see ‘Georgia’ back at school the next day. Peter thought it was a joke until they explained the plan. He wasn’t sure how to feel about it and mostly stayed quiet.
The big news around school was Stacey and Jason breaking up for good, and Stacey holding hands with Gretchen Collins. When she saw Rachel and learned the truth, she was happily surprised and thankful for their conversation. Jason avoided Rachel for the most part.
Teresa stayed close during those first days of Rachel’s appearance. She had no qualms about establishing Rachel as her girlfriend, and that neither of them were interested in boys at all. Strangely enough, most of the jocks accepted it and left them alone.
Over time, Peter and everyone came to enjoy Rachel’s presence in their circle of friends. It was as if Ray was more of an afterthought than a boy dressed up as a girl. They began to treat Rachel as if she really was a girl, too, which made Ray even more happy to finally be accepted as such despite it being a disguise.
By the end of the month, everyone at school knew about Rachel. Ray became little more than a memory, some even believing that he had transferred to another school, and that Rachel was actually another person entirely. This made playing the role a lot easier, as with Teresa’s help, Rachel quickly adapted to living as a girl.
They spent every day after class together working on their hair, doing their nails and learning how to pick out clothes. Rachel eventually got to the point where she was doing her own makeup, braiding her longer hair, shaving her legs, and taking scented bubble baths. By Christmas she had grown quite comfortable to maintaining her girly appearance.
Teresa and Rachel even attended the winter social together in matching pale blue gowns, and both were named Winter Princesses.
The holiday also allowed Rachel’s mom to lavish her new daughter with even more girly clothes, accessories and even a bathing suit.
It was clear by the new year that Rachel was ready to spend the rest of her life as a girl, and she was just happy to have the support of her family, friends, and especially her girlfriend Teresa.
“So what do you think you want to dress up as next Halloween?” Teresa asked as they strode through the halls. “I still like the idea of making you a cheerleader.”
Rachel smirked. “What if I really WAS a cheerleader?” she asked.
Cheerleading tryouts were the following day.
For someone who had been living as a boy only six months ago, Rachel did very, very well.

I really liked this entire story, the first chapter especially. I think the normalcy of it was what drew me in. She's not wearing any extravagant clothes and just dealing the the class-by-class story of this day, where it would have been easy to make Georgia more of a sissy character. I do wish there was a little more tension in some places, such as with the boy who wanted to date her. Or maybe with some teachers or someone else trying to embarrass her. Something that puts pressure on Georgia that allows Ray to discover something about herself. Still, i thought it was a fun, sweet story and would have happily read more. Good job!

Thank you very much for the feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed the story, and I appreciate your suggestions. I suppose we did leave a few plot threads dangling. Maybe if I even at least wrap up that 'interested boy' thread at the end? It took us so long to write it, I haven't read the whole thing in a while. I'll have to re-read it and see where it can be improved. Thanks again!

I'm not sure a wrap up at the end would work. By that point Rachel is comfortable with who she is/wants to be and involved with someone. The tension the interested boy brings would only really work during the first day, I think. There could have been a number of interesting ways to handle him. Maybe he doesn't take no for an answer at first (though that could easily go sideways), or is

You know, given how far Rachel finally chooses to go with all of this, I would probably say Rachel is less of a boy in drag than she is a demi-girl.

Never heard that term, but I suppose you're right. I was tempted to make mention of her looking into hormone therapy or SRS surgery, but figured she was still young and didn't want to mention something that might not be accurate.
Do you think I should edit that last line then?

"A boy in drag" implies that she's really all-boy and just dressing up so it does seem inaccurate to me.
Demi-girl was a new term to me, too. There are more terms all the time. If you want something safe, maybe something more descriptive would work. You could try something like "someone who had been living as a boy only a year ago".
