The sun had given way to ominous dark skies. Jason shuffled out of Thordis' stable, bolting the door and shutting the kick bolt with his booted foot. He took a glance to the paddocks briefly. He squinted, making out a horse on the floor. He had been there not but five minutes ago, bringing in all the mares for the evening as the weather forecast had given heavy rains and lightning.

It was Blues. Jason grabbed the nearest headcollar and rope and sprinted to the downed horse.

"TOBI!" He gasped. "ADELE! SOMEBODY!"

Without stopping, he flung himself over the fence, managing to land upright. He slowed right down as he approached the mare. She wasn't moving. He didn't think she was breathing either. He quickly made a noise, flicking the lead rope at her hind quarters and back legs. "Come on Blues, up! Time to get up!!" He frantically clicked his tongue. He got no response.

Tobias and Adele were running towards him and Blues. Jason knelt next to her head. Adele quickly assessed the horse. She tapped around the mares eye to see if it twitched. Blues was definitely unconscious.

"She is not responding..." Adele whispered, shining a small torch light into the horses eyes.

Fenn was next to arrive. She handed a small kit to Adele. Everyone watched with baited breath. Adele hastily pulled on latex gloves and prepped an adrenaline injection. Wiping the site, she injected the drug. She began to massage and rub Blues all over. Any reaction could be the key to saving her.

Harriet came running over the fields, hands covering her mouth in shock. "Oh please tell me she's not gone..." She gaped, nearly in tears.

Everyone was quiet. Jason stood up. There was no response.

Adele stood, folding her stethoscope. She briefly looked at Tobi. And shook her head, looking away. His head fell to his hands.

"It must have been a heart attack...I don't know what else would cause her such sudden death." Adele said quietly, wiping away a tear. "I'm sorry everyone. Blues is gone."

Bye bye Blues Actually had a bit of a cry doing this. The first horse I ever knew and rode (my uncle's old cob) had to be put down last week, so I was a bit upset. Anyway, Blues suffered a sudden heart attack D: my poor girl, she didn't get the best when it came to generating her life.
