Description I was picturing the scene from Mulan as I posed   I looove shooting at targets. Although we never see shinobi using bows and arrows, I reckon they could easily figure out how to use them if they found them *sweatdrop* And the white tents in the background do look like the ones employed by shinobi during wartime.

Anko's Wiki page describes her aim as "impressive"- I may not be quite on par with her skill, but gimme a bow and I'll be happy

Awesome concept! shinobi's should use bows and arrows. I would imagine they would be very good at it!

So you're an archer, that's nice. And to answer your question, it only takes one, but hope he doesn't get shot.

Haha, only on very rare occasion! Er, like...about once every couple of years?? I'd be delighted to pick it up as a regular hobby, unfortunately I lack the moneeyyyzzz

And yes, it does only take one...he only gets shot if he's a Sound nin. No mercy or compromise there

Uhm, if I recall correctly Itachi and Sasuke did use bow and arrows in that flashback with the wild boar? I mean, come on, of course ninjas can use them.

Did this happen in the anime or in the manga? Not that it'd make much of a difference, I don't give a rat's ass about either Itachi or Sasuke, so I'd have skipped it anyway

Manga. Uchiha bros. vs. Kabuto. I checked, there are bows and arrows in the flashback. ^^
(So you see, you shouldn't say we never see ninjas using them. )

I haven't read much of Shippuden, I only count myself an expert as far as the first series goes   Gawd, you're telling me those two were shooting arrows inside a CAVE (isn't that where Itachi and Kabuto faced off)? I think the only time a bow appears pre-Shippuden is with the Sound Four spider chap, but it dwarfs a common bow to the point I consider it halfway to a bolt-thrower. I'm surprised how little they were used- you get the generic senbons and kunais and shurikens that are traditional ninja weapons, then personalised weapons like Asuma's knives, and no-one's signature tool is a bow? Maybe because yumis are often associated with samurais, I dunno

That's strange, actually, now that you made me think about it... (but I found myself surprised even last week when I cosplayed my OC and suddenly realized that even after all these years there isn't a single canon character whose signature weapons are sai - which made me quite proud of my choice, I must say XD). But maybe you're right, Japanese bows would be too unwieldy for a ninja and are more associated with noble horse-riding samurais? (Not that we didn't see even more unwieldy or uncommon weapons carried around by Naruto characters but oh, well, don't even get me started... )

Actually no, the bows were not used in the cave but only in the flashback, like a hunt in a forest... just to be more precise.

Remember when in the first series that corporate mogul Gato or whatever his name was had SAMURAI as his bodyguards??? Back then, I was convinced samurai would be the 'ultimate enemies' in the series. They're supposed to be the natural rivals of ninja, aren't they? I figured there'd be a big ninja vs samurai war sooner or later. Instead they just up and vanished, and the ultimate enemies turned out to be a dumbass family of moon-dwelling aliens. Oh god, the saltiness returns. Can you SENSE how bitter I am??? *crying salty tears*

Good point about the sai, now I stop to think about it there's a terrible dearth of those as well. Maybe Kishi wanted to throw a lot of very original weapons into his story (giant fans and the like), then later when everyone started using ridiculously overpowered jutsu weapons just weren't relevant anymore, and that's why we've seen such a limited variety? Mind, I can remember seeing a gun or two during the Zabuza arc, but then Kishi said in an interview that guns don't exist in the Naruto world. SO CONFUSING.

Wow, that would have made so much sense...

And bitterness is never enough in such cases.
