Description I have started doodling this weeks ago, but then misplaced the pencil. But as you can see, I have found it since then, and finished this piece.

The Rahi Nui lives in my mind as a hulking, bulky monstrosity. But for the creepy factor, I envisioned it with a thinner, leaner body. Think of it as what it'd look like without eating Toa for a thousand years.

Ironically, it still looks a lot bulkier than a theoretical Rahi Nui set would.

That is a very amazing rendition of the Rahi Nui.  The book couldn't compare to what is shown here.  Excellent job!

Holy Artahka, that's creepy! I think those look more like dragon wings than insect wings, though. Well done!

Hmmm, a pretty gothic and eerie concept which is great but I'm gonna have to say that I think the Rahi-Nui would be more chunked out and armoured.
Great concept though, no doubt about that.

It looks like the creature from the movie Outlander. Probably would be as damn deadly as that creature was as well.

Ho, wow!
Really awesome work putting all the different rahi in there. XD I can definaly tell the tail's from a Nui-Jaga and the head's from a Kane Ra bull.
I like your different take on the shading for this; much darker and more dramatic. It really achieved the hulking, scary effect. :3
This is amazing, awesome stuff!

O.O........ At first, I thought this was a Rahi from Hell. You did a very great job with the creepiness factor.

Beware of Rahi nui. Beware of the beast of horns and claws... And I forgot the rest.
This is totally awesome! It's like a kane-ra, a nui-jaga, and an ice bat all at once. I especially like the treds, and the hooves are cool too.

This is amazing. It's long been theorised that the Rahi Nui was so badass that Lego could only sprite it's tail. Today we se that it is true!

We only got it's tail cause that's all they could see at first. When they saw the whole thing, this was the result:

Looks like Frankenstein creature... Tail from Nui-Jaga, Legs from Muaka and Kane-ra... But who's body and head? 0_o

Vrahno In reply to Kelanich [2010-11-17 00:04:47 +0000 UTC]

The head is that of a Kane-Ra, as for the body, I don't remember if that was ever specified.

I remember now. Though that "hind leg" part I never understood -- Muaka don't have hind legs.

Chimera495 In reply to Vrahno [2011-04-24 00:12:34 +0000 UTC]

I prefer to think the Rahi Nui's hind legs were the Muaka's claws. Kinda like this [link]

Looks pretty cool. I like how you integrated the tracks into the design. I really liked those earlier rahi where they were animals but had some mechanical element to them. That's what I tried to bring back with Mototaur.

Vrahno In reply to Plague-Doc-Matteo [2010-11-16 22:09:47 +0000 UTC]

Cool, I liked that too. Some say it made the sets awfully cheesy and stupid-looking, but to me, having treads, tubes, wires and all that stuff really made those creatures seem far more interesting than any regular design would have. I like unique looking Rahi that are more than just familiar-looking animals built out of Lego parts.

Exactly I forget what their called but those ones that had the single treads that you could hold and had a boxing match with, those were pretty cool design wise. Then I have to say the manna crabs were my favorite because they had the remote controls. when I do rahi(or attempt to) I think "how can I make this part animal part vehicle. I probably just maybe might try to creat your rahi nui myself. I've got those tracks I've got those motors(though no batteries) I think It'd be a good way to FINALLY use one of those motors on something. Then I could always try to rig up a way to make the front legs gallop with the motor. It wouldn't be exactly what you drew, I'd take the wings off and make it more bull like, but I can sort of see how I'd do a lot of this now. I'd go back and recreate the manna crap track system, attach that to it, then build the rest of it statically off the motor.

That would be quite a sight. And I'd be honored if you used my work as inspiration.

By the way, those boxers are called Tarakava. And they are one of my favorite Rahi -- perhaps my very favorite of the first wave.
