I was composing this shot when an ant walked through. I heard a quiet snap on the dry leaf, and, in the same moment, the ant disappeared. So fast does the toad rule in his domain in our window well.I've lifted the toad out of the well twice over the last two weeks, but it keeps hopping back in. He likes it in there, I guess.

Looks like a Bufo americanus! Perhaps a big female? We have mostly A. fowleri in our backyard.
