[The Keeper Sigils]
The Keepers can be considered the guardians over all of Märchen. Tasked with keeping the health of the stories, making sure characters are gaining progress on their paths, keeping the peace between the various fairytale worlds, and helping stories to completion, they carry out the Weaver's will through their own judgment...

Every Keeper on duty wears a mask inscribed with the Sigil of their job. The Keeper of the Forgotten sigil is not represented here; its image has been lost through time.

The placement & meaning of the Sigils have been often interpreted by scholars across Märchen. These are some of their conclusions (though they may not be right!):
Center: Servants of the Weaver; Keeper of Beginnings
This is the symbol that represents the Keepers & Wardens as a whole. Originally the sigil of the Keeper of Beginnings, it is like a flower opening its petals to bloom. Scholars believe there are 8 points because each represents one of the 8 Keeper posts that "bloomed" from the first Keeper. The drops of water garnishing the edges are thought to represent the Weaver, surrounding the Keepers in her bosom.

North: Keeper of Endings
The Keeper of Endings' sigil is based on the profile of a flower, particularly that of a lotus. It is a counterpart in angle and in content to the Keeper of Beginnings. Scholars believe the predominance of round shapes like the bud in the center represent life, continuation, and beginnings that arise from endings.

Northeast: Keeper of Drama
The sigil of the Keeper of Drama looks much like the wings of a bird, peacock, or butterfly. An obvious interpretation would be that the elaborate wings of the peacock or butterfly represent the beauty and elaboration in dramatic acts.

East: Keeper of Conflict
This sigil seems to be based on the design of a spear heading for the heavens. The design is asymmetrical, alluding to the very nature of conflict. Scholars believe the wing-like protrusions imply the uncontrollable aspect of conflict; once it is begun, it takes flight and spreads with the chance of transforming into wide-scale disagreements that are difficult to resolve.

Southeast: Keeper of Tragedy
Star-crossed lovers are iconic in dramatic presentations, particularly that of Tragedy, so we have a design based on two crescent moons whose paths cross for the sigil of the Keeper of Tragedy. Tragedy itself can be beautiful, which is symbolized by the elaborate designs in the middle, but it rarely leaves a clean conclusion, which is why residue of what seem to be vines (or maybe tears) trail out from the center design.

South: Keeper of Stories
The Keeper of Stories' sigil opens up like a book, with hard angles, and a flowering bud inside. It is related to the sigils of the Keeper of Endings and Beginnings as the Keeper of Stories records the beginning and ending of stories.

Southwest: Keeper of Memories
This sigil has both fluid and rigid elements. Memories are fluid like smoke or sand, shifting, changing, wearing away through the years, leaving only imprints of themselves behind. A common interpretations is that the bird-like symbol attached to the middle is like the bird that visits a cage of memories. Over the years, scholars have observed that since the first Keeper revealed this design, a bird-cage has become associated with our past or our memories.

West: Keeper of Dreams
The sigil of the Keeper of Dreams has a decorated star in the middle representing the ultimate dream, with stars crossing them as though they are reaching for or attempting to possess the ultimate dream. But since those stars are dreams as well... Scholars believe that this sigil emphasizes the elusiveness of certain dreams.

Northwest: Keeper of Romance
A heart crowned with what could be interpreted either as stars or thorns, this sigil represents both sides of Romance. Thorns show that Romance can be bitter while stars represent the hope initiated in every Romance. Not everyone gets the romance of their dreams, but all reach for it, which is why the stars pierce the heart. The heart is lopsided because Romance is not always "true" and heartbreak may occur instead.
