this piece shows a lot of promise with its shading and lighting, as well as the sense of perspective. i see a lot of connection to the ancient greek fates clearly defined in the piece, this gives viewers a good sense of what is going on in the piece. any well read fool can easily see that there is an innate visual flow between two universes, weaving a beautiful connection between a wonderful show of our time and the stories we grew up hearing. lastly i would like to commend the artist on the feeling of what is this piece leading into that has been carefully woven into it, this piece causes a viewer to wonder why did celestia visit these fortune tellers and what news did she receive.

"The wheel of fortune turns, fates hung in the balance.
Only the Graeae knows, what makes a difference.
Too evil to let live, yet too useful to die.
For hints of the future, conscience must pay a price."

I like your use of words. Although I think it's a bit dark for this picture with my initial intentions, it works in general.

Corruption cometh in the form of love, a fallen angel...the light above
the shadow's promise is more than she can bear, love turned to hare malice from lack of care
a final fight in the stone lair, beware young Tia...for soon you meet the nightmare

Agreed.Β  I would not like to know of my fate in general, much less than find out from three creepy hags.

For some reason, this first made me think of "The Black Cauldron" (the book, not that disastrous Disney adaptation ) of the Prydain Chronicles. Well, mainly for the pot and trio of hag-like females that reminded me of those three witches.

That's good to hear.Β  Would you recommend reading the Prydain Chronicles?Β  Maybe I could pick up some inspiration.

DemonKaizoku In reply to Vtruss1 [2014-08-27 20:41:28 +0000 UTC]

They're technically books for young readers, but I read the whole series anyway. It was pretty good. So, in my own opinion, I'd reccomend it.

Then I will look for them.Β  It doesn't matter if they're for young readers or not.Β  I care if I can get invested.Β  If I can I believe the book did its work.

DemonKaizoku In reply to Vtruss1 [2014-08-28 19:10:59 +0000 UTC]

Honestly, the Disney adaptation did no justice for it (and it was stuff from the second book of the series and not the first even ), and for any book reader a lot about it was off. The books hold a much better justice and it has details that make it a good read.

They're okay if you're a fan of high fantasy. I'd rank them #4 beneath Tolkien's work, the Conan books and George Lucas' Shadow War Chronicles, but above the Dragonriders of Pern and Chronicles of Narnia.

#5 if you count Dune as fantasy.

Hmmm...Intriguing.Β  I liked the beginning of the Pern and Narnia series' but as I continued they started to annoy me with some of the insipid plot idiocies.Β  I believe I will like this series.

The trio of witches trope is older than dirt. From the Hellenic Moirai to the Celtic triple goddesses to Shakespeare to the Magus Sisters in Final Fantasy IV.

I have never heard of Throne of Blood, but I always found Macbeth as Black Comedy material.Β  It's my favorite play from Shakespeare and I find it amusing.

Which one?Β  This scene is not original and the trio trope is as old as they are, which means it's ancient.Β

Perseus and Danae.

Perseus was determined to defeat Cetus (or the Kraken, depending on the version of the story) and save Andromeda. Athena advised him to seek out Grey Sisters who could tell him the sea monster's one weakness.

(The original Clash of the Titans got the story mostly right. The remake is shit)
