Description Aye, been some time since I have posted with some frequency... time to fix that Here's a fairly quick CG paint (not quite a speed as I was multitasking while working on this too still went under an hour or so) of a German Jagdpanzer tank hunter from WWII. I reffed it loosely from an actual photo, loved the lack of detail it had as it was rather contrasty and grainy. It's abandonded hence the title Silent Hunter. Just did it for fun and to get some CG paints going again, more to come

Yeah, that it could, poor Mr. Ed. Horse vs Tank=bad idea. Of course there's no way to know who the horse beloned to in the original photo, could have even been under German service for all we know... or Mr Ed... on a secret mission behind enemy lines. Sssss, he's not really dead, he just wants you to think he is, then... ATTACK!!!!

Did hear about the Polish calvary or somebody's calvary attacking a tank column during WW 2, it did not go well.

If Mr Ed had 2 panzershrecks or bazookas on each side, well then its a different story.

While we are on the subject of Horses and Warfare, have had a pet project of combining My little pony and Mechwarrior/Battletech. Its still an idea, last time I tried to model a pony, I ended up with a vulture. Imagine the shock, when little girls see their cute and cuddly pets turned into weapons of mass destruction! Instead of soft hair, its Razor wire!

the black and white also gives it a sorta of feel..
like black and white film or something..
looks like you've drawn it by hand.. with some serious shading (in thumb)

Thank you. It was indeed based on a photo and was drawn by hand but fuly drawn on a Wacom tablet into the computer, no paper illustration exists.

You're working with Gainax, damn cool. Game or animation? For a studio that's somewhat legendary it seems Gainax has been a little more low-profile of late as you hear more about projects from Bones, Production I.G., Gonzo, etc. Still Gainax made one of my flat out ALL TIME fav films Wings of Honnamise. A part of me always wanted to do something with them. Congrats man

Oh yeah, I quite dug Eva too and FLCL as well. Honneamise is still my fav. That film, more than anything else, sparked my love of conceptual design Oh, I added you to my Yahoo messenger by the way. I totally understand Speaking of FromSoftware, I just recently picked up Chrome Hounds and must say it's rather addicting, insanely so. Some pretty wild ideas going on in that game.

Yes Panzer is German for Tank so Jagdpanzer means Hunting Tank in German Yeah the King Tiger was a monster but evem more of a monster was the JagdTiger and the Maus prototype, those two were just beasts for sure. Yeah poor horse. I have no idea who's horse it was, it was in the original photo just as I painted it.

Thanks and thank you for the fav Yeah I kinda dig the crazy German tank hunters and assult guns of WWII. They all were quite wild looking designs and rather effective, for the most part, machines. The distinct angular wedge shapes of these tanks make them fairly interesting in the visual design sense of aesthetics, fun to draw or paint them.
