"I can't believe Rudy hasn't made her stop coming back in here yet... Has nobody told him that child makes them uncomfortable? Because I'm about to if she isn't gone soon..."

"I know right? She's bad news, Rudy should just tell Russell he doesn't need her help around here, he's always had himself covered before.... Why should he keep her around if she proved herself untrustworthy by stealing his wares?"

Talli was used to the whispers by now. She'd been working off her crimes at Rudy's shop for a few weeks now, and it was practically every day that at least SOMEONE said something about her... but she deserved it, did she not? She was a thief, a criminal, and was lucky Russell was nice enough to let her work this off.

Sometimes Baugh would come in and help her out, but today he stayed behind, which was fine, this was her punishment, not his, he shouldn't have to be punished for her wrongs.

Talli had been busying herself putting things on shelves, but considering she was still not sure of everythings' place in the store, she wasn't surprised when Rudy told her that she had put something in the wrong place...again... No big deal though, he was the boss, and he was actually very understanding when Russell explained the situation. Very nice gro, though sometimes oblivious to things happening under his own establishment's roof... a lot like his mom in that aspect, but he was a busy gro, and Talli couldn't expect him to hear every whisper from every customer.

Talli heard most of it though, as she was less one on one with other gros, and more just stocking shelves and cleaning things up, just a quiet presence in the store. A quiet presence that did make other gros uncomfortable... She was aware of this, even without the whisperings she knew. The looks on their faces, the way they avoided where she was in the store and if they couldn't they moved quickly as if the floor around her was going to crumble beneath their feet. It was always worse if she had gotten into some sort of a fight.

Scrapes and bruises always made the customers more wary, and rightfully so. It was never a secret why she was working there, Rudy was fairly open about it, which, again, was fine, his customers have a right to know what was going on.

"Her little friend has the right idea, not hanging out with her here..."

"Yeah, she's learning that this kid is no good."

Wait what....?

Talli looked at the two conversing customers with a stern look in her eyes.

"First, this isn't about Baugh... Whisper about me, but leave Baugh out of it. Second, Baugh is a boy, and if you call him a girl again I'll-"

"You'll do what, delinquent?" one of them said. "You'll... bite me? Beat me up? Ooo! Maybe she'll murder me, Gracie, wouldn't that be fun! Bloodbath in Rudy's shop! He'd love that!" the gro said sarcastically and mockingly, clapping her claws together. Talli thought she looked like a fool, but she wasn't going to bring that up, not with the seething anger burning in her blood.

The gro that was presumably called Gracie laughed in response. "Maybe then Russell would get it through his thick skull that he can't go soft on all wynglings, some need to get locked up." she replied, glaring at the aggitated Talli.

"Maybe her little friend could cry 'his' eyes out like the baby 'he' is."

The gro made it very apparent that they were using male pronouns mockingly. Talli wasn't sure if they were mocking her or Baugh, but she felt offenced by the very thought of them mocking him like this, and she SNAPPED.

Talli ran up to the gro and rammed her tiny fist and the item she was putting away prior to this into the biped's leg.

This wouldn't have hurt the gro had it been something like a blanket of a piece of fruit, but unfortunately, it was a breakable glass bottle full of Rattle Milk.

Talli immediately regretted her decision as soon as contact was made. The bottle broke, cutting into the other gro's leg. It felt like everything was moving in slow motion but Talli couldn't stop any of it.

"I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" Talli shouted over and over, scrambling backwards away from the other gro who was screaming as Rudy made his way over to the situation.

"What happened?!" He demanded, shock in his expression.

"She attacked me! She attacked me out of nowhere! I knew she was a horrible child!" the biped screeched before Talli even had a chance to speak up.

Rudy glared at the wyngling. "Go over there now! I'm gonna need to have a word with you." he said, pointing to where he obviously wanted her to wait. He was FURIOUS, and everyone knew it. Rudy wasn't the type to be this angry very often, and Talli was TERRIFIED. This was more scary than the thought of having to take on the entirety of the trouble trio by herself. This could be the end of her helping Rudy; the end of her keeping Baugh safe.... and that was the scariest part, although the look on Rudy's face was a very close second.

Talli gave a final "I'm sorry..." before running to where Rudy had told her to go. Out of the corner of her eye, through the blur of tears threatening to fall, she could see the gro she attacked....smile?? Was this what they wanted? The whole time were they just trying to get her into trouble?

Talli's breathing was heavy as she waited for Rudy, who was cleaning up her mess. Wrapping up the biped's wound and sending her on her way to hopeful; find someone better at earth magic than he was, or maybe someone with light magic? Either way, he sent the gro on her way with some fruit as consolation. He wasn't too terribly pleased that he gave this gro anything for free, but it was better than getting charges pressed against him or something, and he knew these gros would try something like that.

Waiting for Rudy to finish and come to talk to her was the worst thing Talli had ever felt in combination with the feeling that she was still failing her brother even after having to ask her most dangerous opposition for help.

Rudy finally came over, a firm angry look on his face. He knelt down to be more at Talli's height, but he was still frightening in the state.

"Talli," he began, his typically jovial voice now sounding very firm and parental. "why would you do that?" he questioned, his tone getting more sad.... no....disappointed, as he spoke.

"I-I'm sorry, Rudy, I-" Talli tried to get a grip on herself but she had never been more terrified in her life. "please don't fire me! I won't do it again!"

Tears began to roll down her face as Rudy sighed and sat on the floor. "I know you're sorry, come here." he said softly, patting his leg as he looked at the wyngling, indicating that he wanted her to come sit on her lap.

Talli hesitated but did so, she wouldn't want to make him more upset, so she sat down on his lap tensely.

Rudy placed his hand on her back gently, which initially caused Talli to panic. Was Rudy gonna hurt her?! But she soon realized that wasn't going to be the case, as he gently ran his hand down her back, hoping to calm her down.

This gesture seemed odd to Talli, but it was definitely soothing... Weird, but nice.

"Now I need to to tell me what happened, because chances are Russell is going to find out, and I want to know your end of this... those two aren't the most trustworthy wyngrew around, so I need both sides of the story..." Rudy said a soft look in his eyes, a look Talli felt she could trust.

Talli took a deep breath. "Sh-she called Baugh a girl...."

"Baugh?" Rudy said, seeming slightly confused. "The kid who comes in with you sometimes?" he questioned, to which Talli nodded.

"I just wanted her to use the right pronouns.... but she just mocked me.... and more importatly, she mocked him... She made fun of Baugh, behind his back, and I... I don't know.... I..." Talli pressed her face against the biped.

"You just kinda lost your patience?" Rudy questioned, tilting his head a bit.

".... Yeah...." Talli said quietly.

Rudy had been helping...or at least, trying, to help her to be more patient with other wyngrew, as an impatient employee, no matter the reason they were there, wouldn't be ideal. Talli needed the help anyways to calm down a bit.

"Hey! I have an idea!" Rudy said, gently moving Talli off his lap so that he could stand up and walk over to a shelf. Talli followed in curiosity and watched as the shopkeeper dug through an assortment of goods that he no doubt had broken himself.

He eventually seemed to grab... something, and walked over to where he grabbed a strand of ribbon.

Talli watched him carefully but was still fairly confused as to what he was doing.

Eventually, he turned arround, holding the ribbon with a little blue bell hung on it. Talli wasn't sure what the bell was originally from, but by the fact that she couldn't hear any jingling or bell-like noises, and that it was with broken things, that it was 100% a non-functional bell.

"Ta-dah!" he said, seeming proud of himself, much to Talli's confusion, which, he could quickly see when he looked at the wyngling's face.

"Look! This, is a MAGIC bell!" he began trying to explain himself, although Talli could tell that it was in fact, not a magic bell.

"It doesn't even ring, Rudy." Talli said, still not understanding what he was trying to do.

"Nope, it had to give that up to be magic." he laughed, even though Talli didn't seem as amused, she did smile a bit though, which was an improvement from the usual frown Talli wore.

"Any time you start to get stressed out, or upset, I want you to close your eyes, hold onto the bell, and take a deep breath, maybe two, or however many you need to calm down." Rudy said, smiling at the wyngling.

"That sounds stupid..." Talli replied.

"Just try it." Rudy said as he gently tied the ribbon around the little wyngling's neck. "For me?" he continued, whilst giving talli the puppy dog eyes.

Talli sighed, smiling a little, Rudy looked so silly doing that, but... silly in a good way she thought.

"Fine, I'll try."
