I was in the mood to sketch Minkin yesterday and decided to take that opportunity to make a second entry for the Lesson Learned prompt! I will try to make at least one prompt entry every month from now on, to keep my Minkin active, so two entries for a prompt aren't a bad start there
For min-kin , of Japur featuring Griwi 's Dia!

Since she was young, Japur had believed in a story about the stars. She did not remember who had told her, nor did she really know for sure if someone had told her personally, or if she overheard a conversation between others. All she knew was, that she at some point in her life, she had heard that the stars in the sky were nothing more than Minkin who had somehow gotten up there. The story hadn't explained whether these were Minkin that had flown up there by themselves, or that had gotten there by other means, but it explained that that was why there were twinkling stars up there, like the sparkles in a Minkin's fur.

Now that she was older, Japur wasn't sure if she believed this story or not. But ever since she heard the story, she had been looking up on almost every clear night that wasn't too cold, looking at the faint lights up there, and saying things to them. She believed that it must be pretty but lonely up there, and figured it might be nice to have a conversation every now and then. They, of course, never replied, but it was still a nice thought. And even if Japur was now grown up and wiser, she still did this. Out of habit, maybe. Or just because she enjoyed this little monologue before she slept. It always gave her new thoughts and ideas, or helped her put the thoughts inside her head in order. It was a quiet moment, for herself alone.

Unless someone overheard her.

"Who are you talking to?" Japur nearly jumped up as a voice came out of nowhere. She rolled over to her belly and looked up at the intruder. It was Dia. Japur felt the embarassment flush through her body. This was awkward. "No one?" she tried, with a hint of despair in her voice. Dia shook her head in disbelief. "I heard you say-" "Doesn't matter", interrupted Japur, "I like to just talk to myself. Out loud, sometimes. Sorry you had to hear that." and she moved away a bit, hiding her face from Dia.

"Well... okay", Dia said, uncertainly. She wasn't used to this kind of behavior from Japur. Japur, who was now laying down again, stared up, and felt a bit bad for her reaction. Dia wasn't such a bad Minkin, really. She was just afraid that she would laugh at her. Would she? Well, she had embarassed herself already anyway...

With a sigh, she moved closer to Dia again, who had a questioning look in her eyes, but said nothing. "I'm sorry," began Japur, and she started telling Dia the whole story about the stars, how she started to believe it as a child, and how she carried on that habit until today. She feared Dia would laugh, but when she finished talking, Dia simply nodded and said: "That's an interesting story. I actually heard something similar before, it was about..." Before they knew it, they were talking about stories they had heard to explain things, or what they personally thought was the reason behind things. Their conversation lasted quite a while, and by the time they were too sleepy to continue and laid down their heads, it had gotten quite late.

Lesson learned: Don't be afraid to be judged.

Ahhh, cuties ;u; I drew them more chibi-ish here, was fun to do. Not that satisfied with the outcome, but well, it's something, and it took a while to finish. Hope you like it!
