HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHI finished it.
These took several days, but after the first drawing it just didn't feel finished yet, so I decided to go with the full idea anyway. This was made in MS Paint (GIMP for changing the colours to fit the rest of the picture).
So what is this about? It probably isn't too obvious, because I failed at making a nighttime theme in the second one. But what this meant, is that at some point we were talking about how you helped me during the day, because of my social issues, you would make me feel secure and help me with people whenever you could. At night, I am usually the one to fall asleep after you, and while I'm awake I still watch over you and keep you warm. We both protect each other in our own way, basically.
As this deviation submits (long live the schedule function) the 26th of October 2015 has started in our timezone, which marks our second year of being together. Two whole years! Not bad at all
It's so weird, our one year together doesn't feel like a year ago yet. We had our longest meetings in this year, and in September the highest number of meetings in a month so far. I'm glad I get to see you more often, it feels so right ;u; It feels like I have a second home in another country. It's weird, but also reassuring.I don't know what else to say, but while you see this I will probably be next to you anyway, so I don't think I need to say much more.

Ok so this will be my first critique, so it may not be too fancy.
I will start by talking about the areas you could improve on, and then complimenting you on certain topics.
First of all, the background in the second picture definitely did not feel like a "night time" picture for me. I understand that this took you two days, and this was on MS Paint, but you are clearly capable of backgrounds, as demonstrated in the first picture. I would recommend making some test night pictures for practice.
That was the only fault I found uvu.
Now, if I sat here and typed every single asset to this picture, we would be here all day. So I will just go over two little topics that I felt made huge contributions to this drawing.
To begin, I'd like to go over the background in the first picture. There was so much detail in that one rectangle of screen! From the mountains, to the bushes, to the shine on the water, to even the shading in the grass- everything lines up for an astounding picture.
Speaking of shading, the shading of this picture blew me away. Not only was it so complex, the drawing was made in GIMP and MS Paint! And yet, the shading payed attention to color and texture.

I love the facial expressions on the two, and the line-art is great!
Your technique and design is very original. The top background is lovely, but as you said, the bottom side doesn't exactly look like 'night'. It looks as if they were in a purple room? Maybe instead you could try adding a starry/night sky, or even grass. Even something like a darker tone might make it look a bit more night.
The lighting is lovely, and though a couple together isn't original,
the fact that it marks your 2 year anniversary is adorable, and makes
an impact on your watchers.

Firstly, I would like to say that the ideas that you intended to express through this work, according to what you wrote in your description, are wonderfully manifested by the tones and colors used in this work. Your style manages to make it seem both energized, yet untroubled, creating a pleasant mood. My one suggestion would be that, next time, instead of having one panel have an abstract background and the other with a landscape background, you could choose one style of background and use it in each panel. I just feel that it would make your work look more unified, more as if these two panels are meant to be together. Not that you didn’t do a good job conveying this already. The intricate detail in the shading definitely works to both connect and transition between the two images. Emotion is conveyed wonderfully here as well. In the first panel, it is clear that one character is worried, even though the other knows that nothing is wrong, and the cheerful background reinforces this point. I can feel a heavy sense of caring and compassion coming from the second panel as well, with one character not so much guarding the other as simply being happy at their presence. I love the idea of conveying your two years idea with two panels, and the thought to make them show completely different scenes using different colors work well with a sense of transition and time passing.
