I'd say this was a pretty successful experiment.
If I were to suggest anything it would be to try to get more of the flower centred so as to retain the sharpness on the subject. These sorts of lenses - especially when wide like that - get pretty soft around the edges.

That´s the reason for my experimentation! Today I received a magnifier for my Nikon display. Now I am able to use the lifeview of my camera. This is necessary because the auto-focus does not work correct with all my macro lenses at 50, 85 and 105mm. This Petzval lens has an incredible bokeh using the largest waterhouse aperture plate
