[I'm imagining this as a companion piece to Sketch Swap 10 ( [link] ), in which a girl (let's call her Veronica) tries awkwardly to explain away a bad grade. We'll call the girl pictured above Millie. Here, I wrote a small story snippet.]

All it took was Veronica to bring home a single F and the car keys got hidden, her phone got confiscated, and the steel shutters on the windows and doors of the home banged shut, sealing her away from all social interaction to slowly wither and die. Typical bullshit parental overreaction.

And then, to add insult to injury, they hired a tutor for her. Veronica felt that a tutor was the equivalent of a babysitter, but it might not have been bad had they chosen a college student; some guy who was handsome in a lanky sort of way, who'd spend very little time talking about calculus, and much more time telling her about the band he was in. But as another slap in the face, that tutor was a nerdy girl from the local public school, in a whole grade below her. It was the perfect storm of terribleness. If anyone from St. Augustine's Academy ever found out, she'd be sunk.

Luckily for her, Millie didn't seem the sort to tell tales. She just kept reviewing the lessons with her until Veronica could demonstrate that she'd absorbed them. Every time she'd attempt to switch the subject away from math, Millie would steer her back, in her infuriating soft-spoken and infinitely patient way.

The nerve of some people!
