I hope the hawk is able to eat (they're beautiful creatures, birds of prey are amazing), but I confess my sympathies lie with the cute furry animal. Run, rabbit, run!

This captures a highly dramatic moment, the rabbit has to run for its life before the bird gets it. I hope for the rabbit. Very good photography.

True but I hope the bird gets it because they the pure beauty of falconry. you let the bird have some meat and then the rest is for you to cook and eat. Thats the true spirit of hunting

*Jaw drops, clatters to floor. Picks jaw up and puts it back in place.* This...this is stunning! Are those "jesses" (I think that's what they're called) on the hawk's legs? P.S: I think this may actually be a Red-Shoulder Hawk; easily confused with the Red-Tail, but the tail isn't copper-colored. Red-Shoulders also do more hunting in the forest.

it is a red tailed hawk, 1 year old. so it is a juvenile one, the red tail they becomes later.
