Even though the plane looks awesome, I fail to see where the "environment" part of it comes to play.
The land isn't detailed enough and there's no visual land mark as a selling point, only the plane.
There's some tower in the distance but it's way of any standard composition grid and there and you really won't want something like that at the edge, where the viewer's eye is tempted to escape out.
The planes engine could be brighter, and parts of it's body darker, since, if you look at the land bellow, which is more distant, even there you have deep shadows and somewhat bright highlights.

Thanks for the feedback! I wasn't sure where to put this and thought environment seemed most appropriate (maybe "other" would have been better?)
You're right about the composition - the CtrlPaint videos on this have been enlightening.

Yea, they are
He puts in to words what I would usually notice as "wrong" and then change on instinct.
I wish there were good teachers like him where I live >_>

I basically picked some colors from a rain forest reference and built up the vegetation with opaque strokes - there's not much blending, just low contrast in the illuminated areas. I tried to give the impression of 3D form with the transitions and threw in some random strokes here and there. Dunno if that helps...?
