Yap, drawing action scene like this is my favorite thing to do. Though, I can't credit for the vehicles since I stay true to the design as seen in the comic with no alteration made to them, but I appreciate the compliment.XD

That's what I meant too. They look just like they do in the comic and the detail is well done too.
And you certainly have a knack for battle scenes. Look at them clash against the robots while in the middle of their Sally search and rescue attempt.
I wish I could do this well onΒ the battlesΒ too, especially since in my series, Rika Magika, I plan to add some really epic and cool battles against the various Witches that Rika, Jo, Haruka, and the other Maho Shoujos face against, not to mention that I'm trying to make the battles longer and more epic and action-packed than they were in the original Maho Shoujo, as an improvement from the original series.

I wish you luck on your Maho Shoujo series, action scene are really tough to do, and even I don't know how to draw action seen well myself, but pratice make perfect, and alway sketch out how the action will take place, or just watch your favorite anime and try to style your self after them.

Yap, it's like I tell people...it wasn't so much that the characters were getting hurt, it's how poorly the story was written and developed to bring these events around, that got so many fans angry.Β
Create a gripping and intense story, and the fans will take the damage in stride.

Oh, in the previews for up to 254 we've already seen the redesigned looks for Bunnie, Antoine and Rotor.
It looks like it's possible that thanks to the Genesis Wave, a good chunk of the horribly written crap before the crossover could just be written out entirely, like a retcon or midcore reboot.

Waimbert In reply to Gameboysage [2013-07-15 23:02:29 +0000 UTC]
I see, well I guess that's good I think, but what with that redesign of Antoine in the upper left corner of that cover. Is he shirtless or something and why does he look so much like Tails now, and wow they made Rotor just as big and muscular as the Werehog or that Tasmanian Devil character. Still I hope Sally remain untouched with all the redesign going on.

Gameboysage In reply to Waimbert [2013-07-15 23:14:34 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, they made Antoine fully naked like all the SEGA males, while forcing Sally to cover her shame....the irony eh?
A recent reveal of a super special shows the upper halves of Bunnie and Sally, with Sally still looking exactly how she did in the con reveal a year or so ago, without her cheek fur and everything.Β As for Bunnie...yeah she's part robotic again, go figure.

Yeah, it so weird looking at Antoine without his uniform. That what makes me don't other understand all these changes. We have been use to seeing them in a certain way, now its just trying to appeal to Sega bland art direction. Oh well!

BTW, is the current submitted file the largest version of the file you have?Β Usually the bigger they are the easier they are to color in, so if you have a larger version then the 1400 x 2400, it would be good to know before I start on it.
π: 0 β©: 1
Waimbert In reply to Gameboysage [2013-07-16 04:56:28 +0000 UTC]
I current have a version that over 3000x6000 and thought it was too large so I reduce it, but if it is easier to color at those size than I have updated it GB.
π: 0 β©: 1
Gameboysage In reply to Waimbert [2013-07-16 05:09:56 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, always gimme the largest version you have.
In Photoshop I can easily shrink the image down to a good size for the galleries once I'm done coloring them.Β In fact, every time I finish an art, I always save it twice, one for DA and one a shrunken version for FA.
π: 0 β©: 1
Waimbert In reply to Gameboysage [2013-07-16 05:22:59 +0000 UTC]
Okay, I will do for now on. Though does shrinking it or resizing it damage the line quality and make it seem more jagged to you, or is that something else entirely.
π: 0 β©: 1
Gameboysage In reply to Waimbert [2013-07-16 05:27:02 +0000 UTC]
From what I've seen, making things smaller is fine, but making them bigger makes it smudgier/blurrier.Β I usually do the art in one size, then shrink it down once it's all done for FA, without ever making anything get bigger.
How do you do your arts? I notice the smaller objects are tons thinner and sometimes lighter line art wise, so just curious.
π: 0 β©: 1
Waimbert In reply to Gameboysage [2013-07-16 05:38:35 +0000 UTC]
Well, I always start off very large around 2000x3000, and my line comes out fine when I upload them here on deviantart, but they become Β too big when I upload themΒ on fur affinity. So I just play with the size without truely knowing what they do to my line sometime. Also, my version of Adobe Photoshop is 7.0 so I don't know if I have complete control over my lineart quality once I upload them.
π: 0 β©: 1
Gameboysage In reply to Waimbert [2013-07-16 05:52:32 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, DA does an auto size thing where you can leave it as is or choose a different size below the art, but FA doesn't do things like that.
I mean for things like panel layout, do you shrink or expand the inkings to fit into the space, or do you do some other method when putting them together?Β Mostly just curious why the bigger images are more solid black lines while the smaller background stuff tends to be more transparent thinner lines.
π: 0 β©: 1
Waimbert In reply to Gameboysage [2013-07-16 06:03:48 +0000 UTC]
I think I accidently expanded the art to fit my usual size. Try downloading the image again GB, I think I correct the line this time. This is its true largest size.
π: 0 β©: 1
Gameboysage In reply to Waimbert [2013-07-16 06:11:06 +0000 UTC]
Ah, seems to be the original smaller size one again of 1400x2400 XD
Gotta be careful when shrinking things, cause the only way to make it big without penalty again is undoing the shrink.Β Once it's saved smaller and you can't go back, expanding it will just cause the smudgy lines.
π: 0 β©: 1
Waimbert In reply to Gameboysage [2013-07-16 06:23:52 +0000 UTC]
I see, it so confusing sometime, I don't really get how the resizing works in photoshop, but hopefully it won't be a problem when you color this artwork.Β
π: 0 β©: 1
Gameboysage In reply to Waimbert [2013-07-16 06:28:56 +0000 UTC]
In general, if you want to make a part of an art bigger, it's best to do it when it's in the sketch form and finalize the sketch layer before doing any of the inking.Β Sometimes I take the sketch and make multiple layers of pieces of it that I've shrunken or expanded, or moved around, all before inking any of it.
Once you're on the inking stage, if the sketch part is done well, you should only need to shrink it once it's all done to fit it onto FA, without ever needing to expand it again.Β When you do shrink it for FA though, you should undo the shrink to return it to the original size instead of choosing to expand it again, which will just blur the lines.
π: 0 β©: 1
Waimbert In reply to Gameboysage [2013-07-16 06:34:51 +0000 UTC]
I see, so have my line always look blurry in the past, because like before I don't really use layers that much and just do everything on one layer and hope for the best, but I think I will try your method in the future so I don't have that problem again.
π: 0 β©: 1
Gameboysage In reply to Waimbert [2013-07-16 06:51:42 +0000 UTC]
It tends to vary, where it's mostly the smaller objects in the background that tend to be transparent or super thin for coloring.Β Chances are it's cause the panels are on the small side for this one that it's more apparent then the norm.
Either way, it's best to ink something once, and then not mess with the inking after by shrinking or expanding it, at least not till the entire art is done for FA.Β That's why having the sketch the size you want first, so the inking will be done at the right size asap is the most efficient way to do it.
π: 0 β©: 1
Waimbert In reply to Gameboysage [2013-07-16 07:06:07 +0000 UTC]
I see then, well I gues that just Β more thing I will just have to learn how to do in the future. Though, now that explain why your line art alway look so nice when you upload your work here.
π: 0 β©: 1
Gameboysage In reply to Waimbert [2013-07-16 13:29:13 +0000 UTC]
Eh, the pros draw on tablets with a pencil, I still use the pen tool in Photoshop for all my lines XD
But yeah, essentially you should never take a lineart and shrink/stretch it directly, but only play around with the Image Size once it's all done.Β Even then, only shrinking it and never enlarging it is the best way to go.

Why do you think I'm quitting the franchise entirely once SEGA Sally hits the scene? lol
As for Sally....it looks like they're really going to milk her first appearance as long as possible, it's kind of annoying actually -.-
If they do recton away Mecha Sally and most of the 2 year crap fest, I'd actually be thrilled about it and leave the franchise happy as opposed to disgusted at it.Β I'd rather it all be pointless, then horribly insulting and canon.

Totally awesome job
Just 3 quick questions. In the 7th panel when Sonic spins into Sally, is her eye supposed to be pure black without any glowing eye part? (Guessing it's like that in one of the comics and I just forgot).
In the 10th panel where Bunnie picks up the sword to aid Antoine, it looks kind of awkward how her hand is holding the sword. I guess I should just color that whole area the same color as her fur?
In the panel where Bunnie jabs the sword into Metal's head, could you change his eye so it's more spazzing out, or showing signs of the damage, instead of looking like he barely notices it?
Those three are pretty minor quick fixes though, so in general awesome job with this one

Waimbert In reply to Gameboysage [2013-07-15 15:01:53 +0000 UTC]
Thank you very much GB, I am glad that you like it.
Though as for the question, well the 7th panel where Sally eyes is all black I thought it would make Sally defeat here look more believable by showing her getting shut down by the power of Sonic spin dash.
The 10 panel has Antoine hilt overlapping her hand, so her hand wont be entirely visible just bits of her palm showing.
The panel where Bunnie jabs Metal's head, Metal Sonic eyes are never change that often. That even in defeat he still have those cold emotionless eyes, that what makes him cool and retain his dignity at the end of ever fight he is in. Showing his eye spazzing out makes him lose his dignity and treats him less of a powerful threat.
π: 0 β©: 1
Gameboysage In reply to Waimbert [2013-07-15 15:09:57 +0000 UTC]
The problem with your thought on the 7th panel is that at this point in the comic, Sonic didn't want to hurt Sally, only try to reason with her while slowing her down. That being the case, he wouldn't try to shut her down. Plus it's hard for her to escape like in the comic if she gets shut down here XD
For 10, it might actually look better to remove those two lines between her arm and hand, I think that's the part that looks off about it.
If you haven't noticed, Flynn essentially removed Metal Sonic's dignity and turned him into a joke over time, hence why SU 50 was dedicated to trying to fix his credibility again. Essentially, I just want to make it very obvious that the sword stab into his head is what caused the explosion (since you know someone will comment about it), and showing his eye spazzing out is the easiest way to convey something went wrong with him internally. The POINT is that the sword fried his circuits and caused the explosion, so having his eyes wig out instead of remaining the same kinda makes sense to me due to his fried circuits. You don't have to make it an X or anything like that, more jagged or spazzy.
Oh, one other thing is a sound effect or two, like a *shunk* where the sword lands in front of Bunny, or a *Bzzzzzz* in the panel where Bunny pierces Metal's head.

Gameboysage In reply to Waimbert [2013-07-15 17:01:22 +0000 UTC]
Looking better and better Though I meant for the SHUNK to be in panel 8 where the sword lands in front of Bunnie. For the bottom left where it plunges into Metal's head, some kind of CRUNCH or CHING sound effect would fit, for piercing metal. Unless you think there's a better sound for a sword landing into the ground.
With that done though, I'd say you're part will be done and it will be up to me to color it @-@; Rather daunting with how awesome your outline turned out XD
