Before I talk about this comic, some links. I uploaded another gimmick review to youtube, this one is for Sonic Adventure: [link] and if you remember the first Riders game the extreme gear ran on compressed air, behold as the real world catches up to fiction![link] (Remember to rate and comment on my video and subscribe to my channel.)Ok, about the comic now. I loved the Sonic riders games (way more than mario cart) but come on, those things top out at 2-300 mph, Sonic can easily run that fast backwards (a la episode one of Sonic X.)
edit: Btw, just in case anyone complains that Sonic is being limited to a vehicle in racing games, think of it this way. If allowed to run at full speed, the races would always come down to Sonic and Shadow, and the game would be terribly unbalanced. Though Sonic still has a slight edge even in a vehicle since he has the REFLEXES of someone who runs at mach 1 on his morning jog.

You're right. If sonic wasn't limited to his board, there's no point of racing knowing Sonic was always gonna win(or shadow). We need to be fair

And isn't the whole point of Riders that, in the opening cutscene, Jet is, whilst using his gear, just that tiny bit faster than Sonic?
Awesome comic anyway, since I've always thought a Sonic racing game was a bit redundant anyway (Zero Gravity is fun to play, though).

I've actually seen something like that on the Sonic Shorts Collection. It goes as follows:
Sonic: *falls of board*

yes, I'm aware of that one, I saw it before I drew this, but I did think of this joke before I saw it, though the Sonic X anime beat us both to the punch in it's first episode.

poor sport did jet forget that he was the one that had wave planed a bomb under Sonic's board. and when blew it up at the last leg of the race just before Sonic crossed the finish line. jet was being the poor sport not Sonic.

Wave put the bomb on his gear without telling Jet, I'm sure he would have objected to that because of his pride.

it seems to me that racing SHOULD be Sonic's favorite pastime, and besides, the two sonic riders games are pretty awesome.

I'm still doubtful after the first game. Especially the Acceleration missions. I'm hesitant to buy the sequal, due to the control issues the first game had. It took a longer than usual to get the hang of it. Then again, surfing is not my forte.

the controls for the second game are very different from the first game, though I admit, there is a bit of a learning curve, unlike Mario cart, which has very simple controls. Actually that's part of the reason why I like the riders games better, mastering the controls and pulling off stunts and stuff makes you feel really awesome.

I know, but that was from the opening scene of the first Riders game, mine is in the middle of a race. Besides, its not like any given joke can only ever be told once. If you wanna get technical, then that short on newgrounds was recycling the joke from episode 1 of Sonic X.

I actually prefer Mario Kart WAY more than Sonic Riders but this is still funny.
