Description
This is the third incarnation of this drawing. The first being a quick sketch in a piece of paper, the second a bigger version made with graphite and colored pencils; and finally this version with markers and watercolor. I quite like the concept of an powerful old man irradiating an aura of profound wisdom and knowledge.

Update (2009-12-09): I recently found an image that probably influenced me (though unconsciously) in the inspiration for this drawing. It was used in an atlas I used to read as a kid. It's an etching by William Blake called "The Ancient of Days": [link]

Update (2012-07-05): Found yet another probable influence: the Dungeon Master from the Dungeons and Dragons animated series, which I watched as a kid (I suppose it's even closer influence than the one above, but I'd guess both played a role. Memory archaeology is such fun!). See here: [link]
