Age: probably more than 1500 years
Gender: male
Species: forest spirit
Height: around 3 meters (without antlers)

Forest spirits in general
Forest spirits are most commonly neutral spirits living in ancient forest guarding their territory. Their purpose is to protect the creatures living in the woods and make sure the forest in general is fine.
Forest spirits were once humans, who wandered the woods because they were abandoned by humanity and choosed to live in the wild. Even there is a very little chance to become one although the forest chooses them somehow. As the human dies it's spirit will be trapped in the woods. They don't exactly know that they are dead and can take them years to realise that they became a creature of the forest.
It is not common for a forest to have more than one of them.

Body
Although they are spirits they appear to be a black mass of dense liquidish clouds and do not have a real physical body. They solve this problem by building a body by themselves. As they do not want to take anything from the forest, they collect and work with the parts noone needs anyone - dead animals. It is important to find fresh carcasses that have good conditioned body parts.
They can change the parts when they broke it or find a better conditioned piece.

Forms
They have two general forms - one is a more human like, anthropomorphic, and one is a feral, animal like form. They can shapeshift if they restored enough body parts and formed both body.
They use the anthropomorphic form to move around, help the creatures in the forest and to practise magic. Thanks to their part human thinking, they can store an enermous knowledge and can use their powers and abilities for problem solving. They are able to find out how traps work and can track down strangers' activities in their forest.
The feral form is used to travel bigger distances, to incrase speed and to defend themselves. They are more likely to communicate with animals or to stalk humans in this form.

Social activity
They are not social nor friendly, but if they are not bothered or attacked they will harm noone.
They are able to talk to humans if they want to. They can communicate with most of the animals in their forest by sounds and body language.
They can have a deep relationship with sorceresses if their spirits match. They are likely to follow them, talk to them and it's common that tey ask for help or ask them to join their everyday activities as they wander through the forest.
Forest spirits can teach them to use the magic and help them to connect with the forest and it's creatures. Meanwhile a sorceress can be a link between their world and humans.

Diet
They are likely to eat anything they find. As they have slightly living body parts they have to eat. They aren't likely to hunt down and kill all the humans them come across but they do starve human flesh sometimes. They need this to keep something human in their "body" to don't become totally feral.

Especially about Hugo
Hugo was born near the 6th-7th century and died as an adult human to became a forest spirit.

Appearence
He choosed a wolf's skull as his head as one of the most powerful predators of the forest. He enjoys wolves' company, we can say that they are his favourite.
On top of his skull there is a really symmetric antler of a young elk. He decorated it with thing he found in the woods.
He has a long, slim neck, muscular at the shoulders. His mane is once belonged to a horse and has no actual function. Maybe it reminds him of human hair.
The fur covering his body was owned by an old bear.
The strong legs he has belonged to a bigcat, it helps him perfectly to climb trees and to run.
His paws are thin, often borrowed from foxes or wolves.
His tail helps him in climbing and balancing, it's part snake and part rodent.

He likes to travel around the forest in his feral form. He is about 1.65 meters tall at the shoulders, slightly bigger than an elk.
He prefers to use a deer's legs as front limbs that helps him to galopp at a higher speed. He keeps the strong hinds.
Although he loves to collect feathers he decorates his thick mane with many of them.

Personality
He is a true loner, haven't talked to any human soul in centuries. He likes to know his place in peace, unbothered. He don't often chase away people as he sees a lot of hikers, tourists, horse riders or kids. He has a big knowledge of the forest and it's magic ad spends most of his days minding his own business.
He has a den, deep in the woods, at a place that's really hard to enter. He keeps his collected stuffs here, crytals full of magic, his favourite feathers and bones and sometimes make notes on the wall of the cave.
He isn't interested in modern stuffs, he don't like cars and the roads crossing his forest.
